i have.....the drive from idaho falls....up 28 to 93 into montana.....fvcking awesome....spent the night in the rest area near the lost trail ski area....beautiful.
I didn't read all of it, but he does bring up a lot of good points.
I have tried to put myself in his shoes and its tough to say what I would want to happen in that situation. I mean, would I want to be released? Yes. But would I want to have my life traded for more than one guy who have done bad things with intent to do them again and possibly lose more fellow soldiers? No, no I wouldn't.
I would not be able to live with myself. Or I would have to live the most rewarding life ever in an attempt to compensate.
But is it good we got him back? Yes. Was it worth it? I hope so.
But as a vet, I have a lot of issue with the fact that he left his post. Granted, we still don't know WHY, or how far he went, or how he was captured. But had he not left his post, the chances of this ever happening is greatly reduced.
Bergdahl, who was released in May after five years as a Taliban prisoner of war in Afghanistan, is being assigned to work at the Army North headquarters at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, the department said in a statement.
"He will now return to regular duty within the command where he can contribute to the mission," it said.
