Lookin' for Colorado beers.. where should I start?

Coors is a great place to start. Nowhere to go but up from there.
Then try Boulder Brewery Sundance Amber ale.
or how about here:
Great Divide Titan IPA
Great Divide Hercules DIPA
Breckenridge Brewery 471 DIPA
Oskar Blues Gordon Strong Ale
You'll note the Great Divide theme going here...
and no mention of the Denver Pale Ale, so let's keep it that way. Oh, wait...
SS what's the name of the second largest brewery in Golden, that kicks so much a$$.
Golden City Brewery. And their IPA and Imperial IPA are pretty darned good. N8 won't be able to get those, though.
That makes it better somehow.
The fact that it's in a neighborhood in what appears to be somebody's backyard rules.
Went to a Beer Fest in Boulder after riding with a bunch of Monkee's once. Got so trashed I don't remember what I had, but it was good ( all that I tried). So yeah, nothing really to contribute, but boy did I puke my guts out the next day.
We tried some kind of Ska beer in Durango once that rocked. (ska is all i remember from the label)
Your taste is suspect.
Ska makes crap.
i recall not liking it much either.
CO might be the most overrated state, beer-wise. most of it sucks.
I'll wager you've not tried "most" of Colorado's beer.
most of what i tried when i've been out there sucks.
i bought some Avery IPA just for you, babycakes.
let's be clear on one thing, though...CO is certainly no NE or PacNW when it comes to delicious brewed products.
At the GABF California had the highest concentration of quality brews IMO.
Bear Republic is a great brewery, and i like Lagunitas as well. not sure i can name another CA brewery which i drink on a regular basis.
btw, the Avery IPA kinda sucked.
Yah. The Maharaja Imperial IPA is passable, but even that isn't great.
Didn't you say you liked Hop Devil from Victory, though? If so, your taste is OFFICIALLY SUSPECT!
All I know is Titan and Hercules are the two by which all other IPAs/DIPAs are judged.
At least in my book.
Well, I liked it.
...& WTH does YMMV mean?
Look it up, n00B!
Your Mileage May Vary...
yeah, Stone's a solid choice.
Dogfish 60 and 90 imperial crush the Titan and Hercules.
in other words, my east coast beer beats on yr rocky mtn beer.
Hogwash. I've had those brews and while they're pretty good, they're nowhere NEAR as good as Great Divide's IPA offerings.
Oh - and $10 for a 4-pack? Retarded.
You may drink all the overpriced Dogfish as far as I'm concerned.
Oh - my local liquor store started ordering cases of Titan. Because of me.
hey smart guy, what do you think the price of a 4 pk of Hercules is out here?
I have no idea...
Nor do I care.
Green Flash IPA..... Another nod for CA.
let's just say it's firmly within the realm of your self-defined 'retarded' category.
oh, and Dogfish 90 = A, Hercules = A-
Long ago I came to the conclusion that when it comes to taste, most of the world knows jack squat. lthumbsdown:
As long as Titan is $28/case I'm good. irate2:
exactly... 'the bros' rating (ie, the beer advocate readers) gave Hercules a higher score than the dogfish...the editors @ BA gave it the correct and informed rating.
Ummm... correct me if I'm wrong, but the "bros" rating *is* the EDITORS rating of the beer?
no, you're wrong. when you click on the 'bros' link, it pulls up the reader reviews.
so consider yourself corrected.
Ummm... I think that Todd & Jason are "The Bros" and they are responsible for "The Bros" rating.
You're wrong unless I'm missing something...
Cliff's Notes of this thread to this point:
what's really beer? something abita makes?
hey i dont have a dog in this fight.. y'all carry on
-SS- is correct.
After reading -SS- rave about the Titan IPA for so long, I tried it last year and I like it more than Dogfish 60, although I still put them both in my list of favorite IPA's (along with Hooker, Harpoon and Smuttynose).
