Actually, cranky pants, given that half the database got nuked in the last update there probably isn't as much information to be searched for as you think.
I need more bran. You need to not kill your database. Poster needs to realize that their is no "best" dh fork. He needs to research things and come to the table with a few (lots) more details about his search.

hey fat girls need love too or so the song goes. dude you do need to come with more info about the forks and about your build and bike. this all makes a diff. but if i were to say any of them i would go with the dorado just cause of the rep or the 888. both are awsome forks.

anyway...
I just wanted people with experience to give me their 2 cents on the forks they've used. Is that a lot to ask? Isn't that why you are here? To give your two cents?

Beyond that, you are the one wasting space anyway...

I weigh 140lbs. I am 17yo, may grow a little.
Build for DH racing and hucking.

In Whistler terms.

I love swoopy trails like A-line.
I love drops/bridges/rocks on trails like Schleyer.
I hate endless eventless and easy trails like No joke.

they can give you more accurate info if you give them a little bit more info. i did the same thing you did and they couldnt tell me **** cause they didnt know anything about me and how i ride.with info like that they can narrow it down to 5-2 different forks to choose from so thats all were sayin.

List some small things, like if weight were a concern, or if damping were more of a priority. Possibly your riding style, i.e; strictly DH racing, Lift park riding, etc. More detail can help narrow your search and help us give advice. Don't worry, there have just been a recent string of threads started that include stupid topics that help nobody. If you have the chance, ride some of the forks that are close to being set-up for your weight, riding style.
EDIT: Looks like you beat me to it. :thumb:

hey mr "what's the best" post, we have gone over this EXACT SAME TOPIC a thousand times, at least once a week. There is still plenty of info in the databases about the foks. Do a search for each fork individually. You will find plenty of information that will pretty much sum-up everyone's feelings. Let me give you an overview of what this thread will now become:

-Acadian loves his boxxer
-JM hates all things rock shox
-Zedro took the guts out of his shiver and now its a pogo stick
-People hate Risse's customer service and teh forks are boat anchors
-Stratos forks are leaky and in general, are junk
-everyone will love the 888, even if they haven't tried it
-these same poeple will suggest the fox fork is the best, even tho production forks don't even exist yet
-the marzocchi people will say anything sucks if it isn't a marzocchi
-the new MRD manitou dorados are a waste of money

"BEST" for yoru style would involve some information like:

how much you weigh?
what you generally ride?
do you race?
do you jump off roofs?
do you brake slide down cliffs like a canadian with a brake pad fetish?
what is your ability level?
What is your normal riding terrain?

I am 5'9" 140 lbs.
I am generally a pretty smooth rider, I can find my way around on a hardtail.
I plan to enter DH races in Washington state.
I ride lift parks like whistler and whistler itself.
I am not very concerned about weight, but a monster is maybe too heavy.
I am not afraid of maintaining it a lot (every 2 months).
I will also be pedaling up a few hills.
I want a balanced feel front to back.
Kona specs a monster, but it is sooo big and heavy. I am only 140lbs.

the monster is too heavy, the shiver is too flexy(in my opinion), my friend had the super t breac on him, i personnelly think the 888 is way too tall(but is kinda ok in the 170mm mode though, over all marz, best dh fork)

i like the dorado(but has the flexy issue agian, but way better than the shiver)
if yuo are doing a lot of racing i would go with the 2005 boxxer. they are light, strong, fairly stiff, but don't waste your money on the most expensive one though.
btw the 2005 boxxers are 8" of travel
if you are doing some racing and also freeriding i would go with a sherman slider plus. the are burlier than the boxxer but they weight a little more. overall a very good fork

i've heard really special things about the dorado. great DH fork, seen lot's of people race them, but never ridden one. however, i've ridden junior and super T's, and boxxers. all really good forks. my 02 jr. t was excellent, very plush and responsive, stiff

ive seen lots of people race boxxers and say how great they are, and they suck balls, ride it and form your own opinion before recomending it

yes the go ride and risse crowns do fix the problem that the 888 has but the problem really should have been addressed and fixed by marzocchc before any of those fork left the factory. i own a marz and think that they can and do make great forks but resently they have started caring about the looks WAY too much though.

function over looks!

They are great, and they race fantastically. You just have to be willing to actually maintain them.

dork.
