what aboput white bros?

There are a few people on this bored who have one. They are not common forks, but the reviews from those people seem to be highly positive- most of it centers around being stiff with good damping....like that makes it any easier. I would do a search for white bros., and see what comes up. If you can find somebody with one, ask them.

You'd be one of the few with one, if that matters, but from what people are saying you wouldn't be disappointed.

this thread is becoming more and more useless with each post....D
I dunno, with the brain damage this thread induces, its kinda enjoyable.

A boxxer killed my Mom, so I hate those.

A dorado was involved with a DUI which is uncool.

Zzyzx was convicted of 153 counts of wrist murder and senteced to life in a garage without the possibility of a ride.

White Bro's turned out to be a front for ultra militant skinhead nazi surfers who rob banks, the FBI sting should happen any day now.

The Shiver took me out for ice cream and a movie, so thats my pick :D

I weigh 140lbs. I am 17yo, may grow a little.
Build for DH racing and hucking.

In Whistler terms.

I love swoopy trails like A-line.
I love drops/bridges/rocks on trails like Schleyer.
I hate endless eventless and easy trails like No joke.
At your weight and since you mention racing, I'd recommend a Boxxer Team.
(insert a chorus of "you suck old man!" here). I know it's not cool to like
the Boxxer, but they work well and are relatively cheap, stiff, and light and are easily serviced -parts are everywhere (*snappy comeback opportunity here :D )

A Slider+ might be nice, too...never tried one though. You could probably get away with a Dorado too, if you're smooth rather than a plower. Being a cheap bastidge, I would recommend starting off with a used fork for 40% of retail and see what suits you.

There is no best for anyone, those are all great forks for different reasons. Chances are pretty good you'll like whatever you get. And chances are also pretty good that at some point you'll wish you got something else.

Since you're only 140 lbs you can get away with something lighter than say a monster, but for bike parkage you need something fairly burly and stiff, and also plush so you won't get beat up all day.

If you really intend to climb a lot, or ride lots of rolling and flat terrain with some shore style stuff (as opposed to just dh), you might benefit from spv valving in your front end, especially if you've got a 5th E. or other platform shock in the rear.

So, to me that points to a slider plus or one of the newer Dorados. If you don't care about platform damping, go for a 888 (maybe 170). My $.02.

No go ride a few and figure out what YOU like.

All mainstream forks have strenghts and weaknesses. You need to decide which of the weaknesses you can live with and which strenghts you can't live without and go from there. I don't think there's a perfect fork out there, for me the best compromise was a '02 super t. It's lighter than just about anything except a boxxer, it has pretty good damping that feels right to me unlike the damping of a slider which felt wierd to me, it fits big tires if I decide I want to go that route, doesn't need a lot of mantinence, it flexes a little more than I'd like but the way I ride I don't need uber stiffness and at 150lb what would be a lot of flex for anybody else is a lot less for me, they're easy to find used cheap, I haven't broken it yet, I'd like a flat top crown so I didn't have to use so many spacers under the stem or have more than an inch of stantion above the crown, I don't really care for the color but I don't really care that much about looks.

In the end it's all about you, not what we all think. If you go the WB route there will be a few who agree with you that it's the best fork ever, if you go the 888 route you'll find the same thing, even if you get a S8 you'll run into people who will swear by them.

And that there are 14 people that were suckered into spending more money on their fork than their car.

I am talking about the dorado of course. I keep hearing people say its 95% rider yet I keep seeing people with a £1400 fork. :nope: Oh well boys and their toys heh

Ahh yes, a must see..(only once while really baked!)

They weren't Nazi's, especially not ultra militant ones :blah:

Patrick Swayze was better in Roadhouse  :blah:

Make up your own mind. There will always be somebody there to tell you your fork sucks no matter which one you choose.

I have no respect for anyone who says No Joke is not a fun trail.
You can have your Joey tracked out Schleyer

ive seen lots of people race boxxers and say how great they are, and they suck balls, ride it and form your own opinion before recomending it
That is funny....
My coworkers is having troubles with his 888. It rides like crap... ....oh yeah the fork is not maintained...and it needed new oil after break in.

Bottom line...People who don't work on there bikes should own fully rigid single speeds....:D 'cause there is less stuff to neglect. :)

Alot of times whenever you say which product is better/ worse, people will spoon feed you cerebal diarrhea about the products... this fork A is better than fork B, so on and so forth... and the fussing continues. Then all this info becomes as USELESS as a rusty old Huffy.

For real, you gotta try these forks to get a feel for them and get your priorities straight (i.e., will I do 8' drops, is maintenance important, fork feel important, etc., etc.). I've tried a Dorado, Shiver, and a Boxxer (test rode a bike with a Boxxer). To tell you straight up why I chose the Shiver because it boiled down to the ease of tuning, reliablility, and low maintenance which were on the top of the list for me. However, I did like the feel of the Dorado better than the Shiver, but it just goes back to what I just said... JMHO.

Good luck finding your match of your life...

Avalanche DHF7, DHF8, DHF8ti, DHF7ti, MTN8 or MTN10.
These are the ultimate forks.
Which one depends on the rider and the application.

The tech-in, foes F1-XL, foes Currnut and showa/THE forks (mobs stage 2 and GISM) are also pretty top notch.

This thread is worthless though as none of the above forks are listed in the poll options.

I will probably be ordering an Avalanche DHF8ti very soon myself.

About forks............Ask 40 different people and you'll get 40 different answers. The best thing to do is ride as many as you can and see which one YOU like the best.
