My Sidi's feel decent, but I often wish I had sprung for the top model with the carbon sole. I don't know if this is the case with all road shoes, but the Shimano cleat tends to put some pressure through the sole of the shoe and onto my foot. It's annoying and sometimes uncomfortable.

The best shoes are the ones that fit your foot.

I have really narrow feet and like the Adidas ones, even better than the narrow Sids. Obviously, if you have a wide flat foot, they aren't going to work for you...so again, whatever fits you the best.

I have a narrow foot so that will help. I will try out some different models. I really like the idea behind the Shimano form fit where the shoe is heated and formed after the foot but I don't know if its hype or not.

Sidi shoes with the carbon sole are the nicest in existence. Shimano's arn't quite as nice and don't hold up as well, but are 2nd place. They both fit me well, but as stated, if one doesn't fit you right, it doesn't really matter how well constructed it is.

Nam I am
I have had quite a few pairs of road Shoes , Avocent , Diadora, Nike, Look, Sidi, Performance's Own Brand , Shimano, Specialized and Dugui.

Hated: Shimano, Nike

Loved: Sidi, Look , Performance's own Brand.

Meh: the rest.

another issue is how your cleat attaches to Said Shoe. example: I use Look and they don't seam to fit well on Shimano shoes. at least the model I had.

Currently I use 2 pairs of Sidi's ( one is too Big that I use for winter cycling : heavy socks ) and a Pair of Diadora's

It really comes down to How a particualr Shoe fits your Foot. what Might be great for one person sucks for another.

Made in Italy/Europe trumps made in China/Asia every time.
I love my Sidis, every pair I own. I've been riding the older Genius 5 plastic sole ones more lately, but I have the newer carbon ones too. The carbons are stiffer, that's for sure.

Missing a couple of the newer loud pairs, but you get the idea.

Well I know you used to work for the distributor or still does but that is still an impressive amount of shoes.

After buying my wife a very expensive Cloe handbag made in Italy my faith in that country and its ability to make durable leather goods is not what it used to be. That said I really dig the Ergo 2 maybe not in your Euro look though.

How good is the heal adjuster?

It is really an obscene amount, I try to feel bad about it sometimes, but tend to fall short. There are 2 or 3 not shown there too.

The Ergo 2 is a great shoe, but make sure and try it on first, as it does fit a little differently than the Genius 6.6. I prefer the Genius cut actually, and they have the same sole.
That said, as I said, I'm riding the old white Genius 5s lately, with the polycarbonate sole. Not a huge difference, and I think I'm just digging them because they're dirty, beat-up white shoes, which I think is super cool. Not clean, mis-matching buckle colors because I broke one, and there is even a small blood stain on the right one.

The heel cup retention system is really great. I think that the adjustable one is more of a marketing gimmick than anything else, but maybe I just happen to fit the stock one so well. I've never had to play with mine, and they feel just as good as a non-adjustable one to me. It does make a big difference in the shoe, that's for sure. I can really feel the difference from my Genius 5 or 5.5 Carbons to the 6.6 or Ergos.
