I can't believed no one mentioned Led Zeppelin; Ramble On, Good Times Bad Times, Houses of the Holy, Over The Hills And Far Away, When the Levee Breaks, Communication Breakdown, and Black Dog.

Others
Living Legends - Purple Kush (at night then; Never Fallin, Friends are Calling, Nothing Less, common ground, flawless, and hold your own)
Lou Reed - Take a Walk on the Wild Side
The Aggrolites - Mr. Misery, Time to Get Tough
De La Soul - Thru Ya City
2 Pac - California Love, Death Around the Corner, Changes
The Who - My Generation, Baba O'Riley, Won't get Fooled Again
Dandy Warhols - Bohemian like you

Most songs by CCR, A Tribe Called Quest, and sublime.

Anything by Agent Orange, original or cover. Totally my summer soundtrack from back in the day.

Also, Bon Jovi songs always remind me of summer, old big hair (And other things!) g/f loved them. I gotta see my therapist...

NICE!! The 'don't call me' refrain was on spot. There is an old Jane's Addiction movie called 'Gift' and at the very end Perry Ferrell and Ice-T have a sick rendition of that song.....
I saw them play that live back in '91 at the first Lollapalooza. I had backstage passes for it and got to meet all of those guys.

Oh, and I agree, summertime is all about the funk.
Which one? Higher? I'll look for it. :)

Found it... this version seems to be even more angry:

The original version of "Higher" was a pretty optimistic song, especially in the context of the performance - that is why I like it. :)
