JB Weld...smear it into the cracks, wipe off the excess immediately, and use ultrafine wet-dry sandpaper to get the end result flush once it's dry.

I just did the jb weld, sand thing and got pretty good results. I think I used 2000 grit sand paper. Wet sanding is a lot faster for getting the bulk of the epoxy off. Knowing what I know about adhesives jb weld will stick to metal a lot better than nail polish. It might be a good idea to clean the oil off the stantions before putting anything on, I didn't the first time and the epoxy would flake off scratching it with your fingernail.

How does that compare to the clear nail polish? Any better?
I haven't done it myself, but those I've seen with the JB weld did a lot better than my clear nail polish in the long run...

Wow, these are good suggestions, I guess I didn't know how many options there were. I'll try the jb weld method, thanks everyone!

I'll let you know how it works when I try it. I'm taking the fork apart this week for a rebuild, so we'll see.

Rub a baby on it for a couple of hours.
Eventually enough of the baby will come off and smoothen your scratch.
Don't bother thanking me though, I already know that I'm AWESOME!!! :D

just to chime in- nail polish SEALER ("ultra hard" type) has save the life of 2 Boxxers just fine for me. No matter what you use, clean with ISO ALKY first.

I would suggest cleaning the stantion with aluminum etch cleaner, rinse well and dry with a hairdryer. Be careful with this stuff, don't get it on anything else.
Aluminum epoxy such as JB-Weld or Devcon F is what I use at work.
