Any recommendations on the best stand for the money that grabs the bike by the seatpost? (funky frame DH bike)

My back can't take bending over for hours anymore...

Yes, it's very expensive. But it holds up my 50lb DH bike without tipping the stand over, and is very secure and easy to use and folds up nicely for storage. Great for garage use and to take to the races

I've had mine for 5 years and it was owned by a guy who raced DH before me and it was owned by a bike shop before him. One of the side mounts for the tripod broke and Ultimate replaced the part for FREE! It is the best stand for the money.

If your bike work is in a garage or in the basement, try hanging 2 motorcycle tie downs from the ceiling or floor joists and hook each one to each grip, then hang a third and hook the seatpost or something on the back of the bike. It may sound hokey, but it works real well, it is solid, cheap, adjustable and allows you to spin the crank and work on the drive train. If you drive a pick-up use the tie downs to secure the bike in the back the same way it is done with a dirt bike.

Ultimate Pro, no contest. I've used a few different stands and it's the most solid, well made stand I've had the pleasure of using.

Not to mention it looks pretty :D

I got mine as a Christmas present but they are expensive. Worth it, IMO - it's one of those things you buy once and forget about. The cursing and pain associated with a cheap workstand just isn't worth it...
