I really cannot find any way to understand what goes through the minds of people like this.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6343693.stm

A couple who subjected their four-year-old disabled daughter to a systematic campaign of cruelty have been jailed for a total of 22 years.

Walked by the TV in the cafeteria at work and they were discussing the death penalty for child molestation. If what they say happens to child molesters in prison I say that is letting them off easy.

That's a question I asked myself as I was posting it. I didn't come up with a good answer. You could ask the same question about a few other news items on here too, I guess.

As for the death penalty, I am against it on the grounds of not wishing to ever execute an innocent person, but I cannot see what good it does to let people such as these live.

Watchin' you. Writing it all down.

I think that the protection of the innocent from execution needs to be the guiding force behind implementation of the death penalty. But I also believe that some folks by their actions forfeit their right to life in our society.

These two particular cases.... the parents would have a difficult time convincing me they had not crossed that line based on the current evidence.
