The House voted on Wednesday to formally open an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, pushing forward with a yearlong G.O.P. investigation that has failed to produce evidence of anything approaching high crimes or misdemeanors.

I'm expecting a state funeral for Carter soon, just, well, if he makes it to Jan 1st he will most likely not see 2024.

No if we happen to have four more state funerals before 2024, I'm cool with that also.

I think he'd much rather a state funeral under Biden than Trump when he gets back in.
A trump administration state funeral will be a whole new level of crass.

Of course pardoning Hunter isn't the right thing to do Brian. I can admit that. It's kind of an F-U to all the stuff that Trump is getting away with, like stealing classified documents, and it's stealing classified documents because there was no official act to declassify them, when asked to have them back, he claimed to not have them, then it was found he in fact lied about not having them, so they raided his place and got them back. That's straight up breaking the law. I can't do that either and am bound to certain rules regarding protected information. And that's only one of the cases. I'm not "whatabout"-ing though, I'm saying yes, it was wrong to pardon Hunter. I'm sure we'll get no such admittance from you on anything Trump related.

Of all the controversial shit that happens in politics, battling an overtly hostile incoming president and defusing an outwardly political prosecution is really not one of them. Pardons are always controversial, so was going after somebody for improperly filling out a form.

Does Brian believe the President should have immunity for official acts as President?

I knew he was going to pardon Hunter, it was just a matter of when. It's his son and I get it, he made him and will make the rest of his family untouchable for the last 10 years of shady business dealings.

You mean all those shady business dealings that the Republican Congress has found zero evidence for and even their witnesses said there was no evidence for. Unlike your mango god who has been found guilty of pretty much everything going at this point...

The business dealings that the star GOP witnesses got charged with lying to federal officials over because he made them up? Those ones?

All Brian has to do is google Alexander Smirnov, but he was so hungry for the Biden Crime Family stories on Fox and Newsmax 2 years ago while at the same time this criminal mastermind was also senile. Made perfect sense if you didn't think.

Yep I'm still here, most on this political forum need to run to their safe space every time I come by, but that's ok. I don't hate, only they do. Trump basically has 2 years to try and right the ship. If they lose the house, senate and/or both things will be different. Time will tell and lets all hope for the best. Even if Trump succeeds, most in this forum will still be sniveling because it's impossible that the evil orange guy can be somewhat successful.

Change of subject, you still live in San Jose, CA? If so do you ever ride Demo?

Start with reducing government spending and ending two major wars.

Musk thinks he can cut spending by $2T a year, that would be great without raising taxes. We pay almost $1T in interest alone. The last president that was successful at balancing the budget was Clinton, so we will see. Trump has gained a lot of popularity this time around, and I'm optimistic but time will tell. If both sides can actually work together we might make some progress. Even Bernie Sanders and several other democrats like what Musk wants to do with our government spending.

Lets just hope we all can win!

in your opinion, how much of that should come from cutting the nearly $900B defense budget, versus say, social security and medicaid, and other similar programs?

Thatd be crossing a line I think.
Rule of law and strong institutions with a balance of power is the recipe for a sustainable nation.
Take Fauci. Peri-dotard idiots are calling for him to be executed for all sorts of absolute batshit crazy theories about bio labs and the like. From all I’ve seen he followed the science, and there’s no substance to their wild allegations.

Sparing him from the congressional hearing circus would be the right move by cutting the legs of their implied threat out from under them.
