i just got my 2004 switch back from the shop cuz my wheel would not spin freely. When I would stop pedling the chain would get all wraped up. but that is fixed now and i have another problem, my 8 inch hayes rear rotor is rubbing my frame! is this a big prob. or is my rotor just bent? the bike was bought just under a week ago and i have had 2 other problems with this bike. I Am Pissed! is this a big prob or not?

did you buy the bike from the shop? if so then just take it back there and ask them to fix it for you.

1. Check and make sure that the spring on you QR skewer is not somehow turned around and preventing your hub from sitting all the way down in your dropout.

2. Is you rotor rubbing your frame, the caliper, or the caliper mounting bracket? If it is either of the two latter - try loosening the allen bolts, squeezing your brake lever (to let the caliper center over your rotor) and tightening the bolts again while holding the lever. If it is touching your frame - take the bike to the shop - it shouldn't be.

Did the bike come with 8" rotors? Or did the shop just upgrade you? If the wheel is in straight and the rotor is rubbing you have a problem somewhere. Does it rub your caliper weird too??? If its not rubbing on your caliper like its bent... then maybe the frame cant take a 8" rotor.....

the disc does rub the caliper weird but it came stock with 8 inch rotors i don't see why it rubs the caliper but it is not bent, cuz it rubs contantly not just a little part of the rotor it is the whole thing!

That's good - you just need to center your caliper from the sound of it. Loosen the 2 screws holding it to the mount, squeeze the lever, retighten, and check it.

also ive heard that if you are missing a spring on the skewer then it will also throw some things off. so if your missing it a quick TEMPORARY fix would be to remove the other spring then get another one when you find one. but try re allinging the caliper first im pretty sure that is prolly it.
