This is my fav' song, Juicy form Notorious B.I.G.
Yeah, this album is dedicated to all the teachers that told me
I'd never amount to nothin', to all the people that lived above the
buildings that I was hustlin' in front of that called the police on
me when I was just tryin' to make some money to feed my daughters,
and all the niggaz in the struggle, you know what I'm sayin'?

Uh-ha, it's all good baby bay-bee, uh

[Verse 1]
It was all a dream
I used to read Word Up magazine
Salt'n'Pepa and Heavy D up in the limousine
Hangin' pictures on my wall
Every Saturday Rap Attack, Mr. Magic, Marley Marl
I let my tape rock 'til my tape popped
Smokin' weed and bamboo, sippin' on private stock
Way back, when I had the red and black lumberjack
With the hat to match
Remember Rappin' Duke, duh-ha, duh-ha
You never thought that hip hop would take it this far
Now I'm in the limelight 'cause I rhyme tight
Time to get paid, blow up like the World Trade
Born sinner, the opposite of a winner
Remember when I used to eat sardines for dinner
Peace to Ron G, Brucey B, Kid Capri
Funkmaster Flex, Lovebug Starsky
I'm blowin' up like you thought I would
Call the crib, same number same hood
It's all good

Uh, and if you don't know, now you know, nigga, uh

[Chorus]
You know very well who you are
Don't let em hold you down, reach for the stars
You had a go, but not that many
'cause you're the only one I'll give you good and plenty

[Verse 2]
I made the change from a common thief
To up close and personal with Robin Leach
And I'm far from cheap, I smoke skunk with my peeps all day
Spread love, it's the Brooklyn way
The Moet and Alize keep me pissy
Girls used to diss me
Now they write letters 'cause they miss me
I never thought it could happen, this rappin' stuff
I was too used to packin' gats and stuff
Now honies play me close like butter played toast
From the Mississippi down to the east coast
Condos in Queens, indo for weeks
Sold out seats to hear Biggie Smalls speak
Livin' life without fear
Puttin' 5 karats in my baby girl's ears
Lunches, brunches, interviews by the pool
Considered a fool 'cause I dropped out of high school
Stereotypes of a black male misunderstood
And it's still all good

Uh...and if you don't know, now you know, nigga

[Verse 3]
Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis
When I was dead broke, man I couldn't picture this
50 inch screen, money green leather sofa
Got two rides, a limousine with a chauffeur
Phone bill about two G's flat
No need to worry, my accountant handles that
And my whole crew is loungin'
Celebratin' every day, no more public housin'
Thinkin' back on my one-room shack
Now my mom pimps a Ac' with minks on her back
And she loves to show me off, of course
Smiles every time my face is up in The Source
We used to fuss when the landlord dissed us
No heat, wonder why Christmas missed us
Birthdays was the worst days
Now we sip champagne when we thirst-ay
Uh, damn right I like the life I live
'Cause I went from negative to positive
And it's all...

(It's all good)

...and if you don't know, now you know, nigga, uh
Uh, uh...and if you don't know, now you know, nigga
Uh...and if you don't know, now you know, nigga, uh

Representin' B-Town in the house, Junior Mafia, mad flavor, uh
Uh, yeah, a-ight

Indeed.

You can't spell "crap" without "rap".
Don't hate. Sellout MTV rap and real MC hip-hop are VERY different. Listen to some Gangstarr, Jedi Mind Tricks or Talib Kwali and you'd be suprised about the poetic lyrics. Surface hiphop is a joke but the underground non sellout hip hop is actually pretty real and creative.

BTW the the poster, "going back to Cali" owns "juicy".

That is so true, these MC's know how to drop down the real flavor of hip-hop backed up with some wicked instrumentals

I was about to say the same thing. Jedi Mind is so dope. Juicy is the only song by Biggy that I've ever really liked.

Yep. A lot of them are REALLY good. Atmosphere and Immortal Technique are up there in my top choices

The worst part about BIG is he didnt even have real beef. Listen to "going back to Cali", he was all east coast but he wasn't trying to hate. That song is pretty much his deathsong. He got shot during that west coast trip I believe. Tupac and BIG were really the LAST real mainstream MCs. After they fell, the rap scene went with it.

Gangster rap is the downfall of hiphop.
People like 50cent and the game are putting the game of hip hop to shame.
Listen to Third day, wordsworth, talib kweli, zion I, sean price, buckshot, smif n wessun. Youll be blown away by the quality of the lyrics and beats.
Its a whole other world then the crap you hear on mtv...

It would defy the laws of physics for me to agree more with you. Except the more I listen to Im tec the more I realize he might be a little crazy. But the boy can rhyme. HOLLA

Very true. The only rap I own is some Gangstarr and early QOTSA. Real talent exists, it's just not in the mainstream. Biggie Smalls had a lot of good stuff too, though I'm not that familiar with it.

Ah Biggie,
One of the most talented MC's of all time.
The thing that sucked the most about it was how young he went down. He looked older than he was, but when he died he was only like 22 or 24 (I don't remember his exact age, but it was his early
20's.) Such a waste of talent. You know if he could have stuck around he would have grown out of all that guns and b&$%*es talk,
and then his skills on the mic would have truly shown.

"Who shot ya" is another great track he did.

"I can hear sweat trickling down your cheek.
Your heartbeat, sound like Sasquatch feet.
Thunderous, shaking the concrete."

All kinds of music suffers from bad stuff. Record companies and corporate radio promote to the lowest common denominator. Put pop in front of any kind of music and it will most likely suck, pop-rock/country/rap/jazz. Blech. I don't listen to much rap because I have few connections to what the good stuff is.

Rap would be OK if they got rid of the posers talking all over the music and got somebody who could sing a bit. And then got some guys who could play instruments to play the music. And then got rid of the guy making squeaky noises with the turntable.

Good track. I love, "I've got a story to tell" - just an entertaining piece.

"I kick flows for ya, kick down doors for ya
Even left all my motherf**kin hoes for ya
Niggaz think Frankie pvssy whipped, nigga picture that
With a Kodak, Insta-ma-tak, we don't get down like that"

I think we share very similar musical tastes :thumb:
