I've been wrestling lately about purchasing a new or used frame. This new frame would have an ETT .5" longer than my current frame. Currently riding a Heckler (ETT of 22.5") with a 120mm no rise Thomson X4. I love how it fits , but have contemplated using a slightly shorter stem. The new frame also would have a headtube that is shorter by .5".
I'm not sure what stem length and rise (if any) I should look to get. I was kinda leaning towards a 90mm * 10degree stem thinking that the rise of the stem would offset the shorter headtube a bit (I don't want to run a huge stack of spacers). I kinda wonder if 90mm would be too short though. I probably won't be able to swap out a couple different lengths and rises as my LBS doesn't stock Thomson X4 stems and buying 3-4 different ones isn't gonna float.
Any suggestions or insights? The replacement frame would be an '05 Turner "5" Spot.
