I've got an idea for a series of bike-related articles, that I may try to peddle (yes, that's sort of a pun) to a few mags or sites. Does anyone have any idea what the going rate is for such work?

Kinda' vague, I know, but any info would help. Thanks!

I suppose. If it's not worth my time, though, I'd rather be out riding, ya' know? There's no glory in being published for the sake of being published.
Right, the glory is in getting a fatty check for writing......everyone knows that....

It varies widely depending on the publication.

Put it to you this way: if you want to write, you've got to know how to do research. And if you know how to do research, you can easily find the rates of just about any magazine, biking or otherwise.
