Have a buddy coming to the bay for a week. He wants to hit up some xc trails. Where can he get a half-decent hardtail to pedal around on? The usual tourist bikes won't do the trick. He'll be staying in Berkeley.

I worked in bikerental.com for a summer a few years back they did all the usual tourist bikes but also did some half decent hardtails and trail bikes. There based in San Fran city near Columbus and Lombard not sure what there at now but they'd be worth a call/email. It was about 8 years ago since I worked there.

Passion Trail Bikes in Belmont. I know, I know, the drive is too far. But you can choose from a full fleet of 2010 Specialized and Santa Cruz high end demos.
