Can anyone shed some light on this frame builder for me? I've been informed that his work is on par with Richard Sachs and Serotta quality etc. etc?

Is this so?

Yes. Nice guy too, I've ridden with him a few times. He builds bikes the old fashioned way...one at a time by hand. I've seen some pretty fancy paint jobs on them as well! Titanium goodness.

I lost the auction by 5 bucks - It ended around a11ish on Saturday and I was in a hockey rink. Someone got a kick ass hand built frame with killer paint and an almost full dura-ace grouppo for $430! :(

I had a custom built steel road bike measured and made by Bill and painted by JB in 1989. It still fits me perfectly, rides like a jewel, and the paint is still fresh. My bike shop loves getting it (I continue to make adjustments to the components). Bill had the foresight back in 1989 when making the rear forks (when a 6 sprocket was standard) to allow enough flex for a recent insertion of a 9. All cables are inside the tubes. I've upgraded from Shimano to Durace and plan to keep my bike for another 20 years.
