I have a 2003 Black Elite and I love it. The only problem is that it doesnt seem to have much small bumb sensitivity. I wiegh about 170 and ride a hardtail that used to have a 80mm Judy Crapshox on it. THe 100-120 Black is infinitly better but it doesnt absorb the small impacts. It has a rebound but I dont really know what to change. Does anyone have this same issue with the Black Elite?

I've got one on my jump bike and I know exactly what you're talking about. It's great on big forces like pumping and landing hard but does feel rough whenever I ride something a little rocky. Unfortunately this is perfect for what I use it for so I haven't bothered with changing anything. The preload adjuster doesn't seem to do anything on mine. Try a lighter spring and change the oil would be my only suggestion.

If your forks are normal TPC, then you've got a low speed compression adjustment. On the 02 Elites on my gf's bike it's the knob on the right topcap. But some will adjust it with a small set screw on the compression assembly.

Unscrew the topcap and draw the attached compression assembly out. (Be careful, there's oil in there) The setscrew will be just above the piston.

Also keep in mind if your fork needs a clean and lube the small bump response will be the first thing to suffer.
