Heya.

So ive gone about bleeding my brakes after cutting the lines...

Pretty much followed instruction. Also read the magura cult disc brake bleeding tips.

Now ive got the air out, get it full and cap it...put the little screw in. Take out bleed screw/syringe.

Pull the lever....mush, open back up resevoir is half empty. Re-bled front, seems to have a good bleed on it now. But what am I missing? Practice I think, but any tips? thanks!

ohyeh...they are 01' Gustavs

I think bleading my Gustav's (1998-99?) are pretty straight forward. However it can be messy. I have a bottle ready just to suck up excess fluid out of the resirviour (oh I messed that one up)

And yeah (like JBP said) you need to account for the pistons being retracted...if that was the problem.

I know this sounds arrogant - but I am the friggin king of bleeding Gustavs - God know's I have done it enough times. If you are serious about getting it right p.m. me and tell me step by step what you did and I'll tell you where you went wrong. Contrary to popular belief, Gustavs can be bled and never be touched again as long as you get a few things right.

Leave pistons in the pos. where theyd be resting when riding and not braking , dont pull them out and dont push them back !!

Put rotor and pads in another room.

Bleed

Install pads

Ride .

In the original 2001 instructions they tell U to push the pads all the way in before bleeding , but Magura later released new bleed instructions , where U dont have to push them in , but instead use a "new" yellow transport device when bleeding.
basicly what the yellow thingy does is position the pads in their resting pos.

U cant determine where the pads should be before bleeding :
Push pads all the way in , bleed , pull lever (with pads and rotor in place) , Top of reservoir (offcourse this wont work if reservoir is dry after pulling lever , but in my experience it wont be )
Cheers Caspar (bled my Gus 15mth ago , havent touched it since)
