Hey Monkeys, riding at the local trails the otehr day and hit a small 4-5 foot drop on my hardtail and heard a sound like I popped my tire, Quick inspection showed no signs of a pinch so I kept riding, a bit later my buddy asked what the boot was on my fork and I looked down and the seal on my right stanction was at the top of the leg. Slid it back down into place but thought it was kind of weird. Will this happen again? The fork is a 05 manitou stance (I know, get a new fork) Can I put anything on the seal to secure it in the fork leg? Thanks. For having a 20mm axle and being advertised as a FR fork, I am not impressed, the fork has been ridden maybe 5-8 times!:wonky2:

Sounds like a seal in the rebound assembly went bad, allowing fluid to escape through into the fork lowers, creating an increase in pressure that would pop the dust seal up. I've seen this on quite a few forks lately. You need to take it back to your shop so they can call Manitou to get a new assembly. It's super easy to fix. They should know what to do...

sounds like you have a badly placed seal or should i say was not on right. the seals sould stay in place. did you bottom out the fork when you did the drop. I would get new seals just in case if you keep the fork. and buying a new fork will not have a difference.
