I could donwload Micce's video but can't view it. I can only see the first 10 secs then the picture just stops, while the sound goes on. In Media Player. And if I try to jump longer into the vid, the sound is there, but otherwise just black.

Quicktime doesn't work either.

Awright... I think I know what you're talking aboot now :)

Here's a link to a lil sequence(50mb) a friend of mine made the other day. It's from a festival we attended last week. Me and the Rubber Ducky is represented 2:17 into the flic - that's why I choose this bmw porn thread, hehe... I'm somewhat slow/tired in the sequence cuz that's the last thing I did that day. I'd usually come outta that curve faster... just so you know. Some of the other riders are friends aswell and some are complete strangers who happened to be there when the camera was rolling. Enjoy.

looking at the movie it looks like the wheels are kind of small (or the frame is huge)...24" wheels ?? Or a huge frame ???

It's both - 24" wheel rear and front and some "biggus dickus" fork and frame
It's pretty wierd to jump around like that cuz the suspension soaks it all up if ya dont pull the bike upwards... :p

u guys are right. It seems like it's no longer possible to download the flic from that URL. If anyone have some room online lemme know. It's 50MB...

codec can be downloaded from www.divx.com - beware of the spyware in the bundle.

that's funny... I thought most ridemonkeys knew about the rubber duckie by know. But I was obviously wrong :)

The bike has 11" travel in the front and 13" in the rear. Search for "rubber ducky" in these forums and you'll find lotsa info about it. Photos of it and smetimes me + the bike can be found here:

Honestly I dunno the stroke length of the rear shock. I'm guessing here but prolly it's more than 3½" - Ask joe @ BMW if it's important to ya

Espen: She's pretty heavy - ~35kg(~76lbs)

the bike. now with stickers! (thanks, chris!) sorry about the crap quality. my camera has problems focussing... could be the caffiene withrawl as well...

beauty squared. really nice work xy.

about that castrating saddle (caution!!)...anyone else find that bike to be more of a semi-sit-down-ride than your typical stand-up-for-max-benefit-frame? aside from the tmx's bucking issues, for me this and the race link handle better when i'm sitting, mostly sitting, like.....standing yet seated. not quite standing, and not really sitting.

It would be nice if they dialled some sort of progressive action into those. Do you have any details on them?

I must say that I've not really had any of the bucking on mine, since I had my shock revalved. I run a Fox RC, as stock it bottomed too easily, I sent it to a suspension company over here called Mojo. The owner of the business had a TMX and had played around and found the best configuration for the Fox. I had the 'TMX' revalve and it's solved most of the problems, it doesn't bottom quite as much and there's no bucking.

Has anyone run a 5th on their TMX? I've seen a blue one on pinkbike but had no response from the owner. It should be possible to dial in the progressiveness into the 5th and sort out any bottoming or bucking issues.

Sorry I was kidding about the anti-bucking rocker plates.

i have recently been bucked two times in two accidents and I'm scratching my head trying to figure out what to do. I'd buy a modified swing arm from BMW as an upgrade if they made such a thing??? Any ideas from you BMW experts in what it would take to add a link activated shock on a TMX.

haha! good one. evil ABRP's for your TMX. that'd be sweet cuz i've often wished i had a need to run something evil other the the cool stickers plastered on the computer at the office. those guys and allison are wicked cool. wicked evil! hehe.

i'm curious to know what level rider and type of terrain millar is rolling on his bike. if he's not racing, nor taking big speedy jumps, he will likely not encounter the bucking issue. hoping joel finds a re-valve helpful.

I'm about to disassemble my byke into molecules... Anybody got any tips&tricks/do's&dont's on how to do that properly? Gunna replace all bolts on it. BMW didn't put stainless steelbolts on the ducky. I wonder why... It's looks wierd with corrosion on such a bike.

what is the nature of the bucking action? how/when did it happen? i guess there could be several scenarios. an under-damped shock could pogo the rear on take off. jumps with rolled/flattened lips are also more likely to buck riders regardless of bike setup - the bike compresses front & rear up the face of the jump, but then the front follows the decreasing radius of the flattened lip as the rear starts to unload - resulting in sweet bucking action. technique can circumvent such rodeo action - ie, popping off the jump. if you were bucked off a large flatish landing, i think there's a couple possibilities; too little rebound - (shock as pogo), or (a little less intuitive) way too much rebound - the shock bottoms, but rebounds too slowly to diminish the bounce. hmmmm....

those rusty bolts are actually stronger than stainless. i believe all the structural bolts in these bikes are grade 12.9 - the strongest avaliable.

Good-o, Just taken arrival of my RaceLink frameset, to be built up with 888s/Monom4s amoungst other parts. Frameset equipped with Avy/Ti spring, Various other Ti bits n bobs, Profile SS Cranks (The big beefier ones), and apprently a Ti jackshaft spindle or something, but having little experience with these frames, and not having taken it apart yet, i'l have to see what all thats about..

Killing me sitting here looking at it, only being built up this thursday when my LBS can Ream&Face the headtube, and press in my Chris King.... want to do it all properly with this...

Pic's up thursday night with anyluck...

Mmm stainless, easy to bend. Don't put stainless bolts on anything that'll take a decent amount of load, the last thing you want is damaged bearings/bushes from easily bent bolts.

the corrosion comes from people not taking impeccable care of their rig. not bklyn's bad.

micce, probably best to check with joe at bklyn for suggestions and any precautions for taking the bike apart and re-assembling since it's one of his creations.

Hey hey, welcome to the Monkey and the Brooklyn-freak thread. :) Happy to hear your bike arrived safe and sound. Just don't let your friend show up with his can of spraypaint. Hehe.

RIK, interesting note about the stainless steel bolts. I had no idea they were NFG for load-bearing. Dumb question (?), but does the same go for Ti???

ti bolts arent as strong, but seem to survive most applications. i've used them for several years on pretty much everything; the only problem i've had is with bending a couple thrust-link pivot bolts on an rm-7 (not surprising given the leverage on them). my tmx has loads of ti - though it seems a futile effort...

Quick question for all Brooklyn or 4130 frame owners... Do any of you take measures to prevent rust? Both internal and external...

I don't want to go attacking my bike with a can of WD40 or something if theres a better way..

Cheers all.

yeah, i do alot of cleaning. i keep all the steel bolts cleaned and WD40'd so that they do not turn that nasty rust color. as for the frame, I spray WD40 inside the frame. you gotta figure that the bike is sitting on its wheels or bike stand all the time so any water will collect in the same spots all the time. so if i keep WD40 in there, it will collect in the same place and help protect the frame. it cant hurt to be preventative. i am sure there are people out there that never touch their bike for years and years but i am not like that.

just tape up or wrap up the entire swing arm on the driven side (derailleur side) cause the chain will slap it and K/O the powdercoating.

enjoy the new BMW. post some pics and some action pics so we can keep this BMW thread alive for years to come. It is like our own little forum.

AR, follow joel's directions to the tee (or t??)!!! especially the wrap for the chain slap on the swingarm. wd40 inside the frame, after tipping it over to get out any collecting water. direct spray hosing as little as possible, but i'm sure that's hard to get around since you probably have muddy conditions regularly, or so i'm told. dry that puppy off after wet rides/wet washes. especially the ridiculously difficult to get to places in the "business district" (as doc refers to the mid-section of the bike). also recommend a fender for the shock. there should be a mount on the frame for it.

seems to me the persnickety wrench/maintenence folks get the most from their bklyn's, but that could be said for all bikes.

personalized stickers eh? can't wait to see the pics.

If you hit your BB og pedals on a rock og small but tall clump of dirt, you're bike is gonna buck, regardless of the make.

Ah brilliant, cheers joel, tmx. The wraping the swingarm up idea i was gettin ready to do tonight, need to find a few more zipties first.

Cleaning goes without saying, its a brooklyn, only A* treatment for this. I really looked after my previous Tomac 204, pulled the innertube over the chainstay so no zipties, then went over it in electrical tape to same coor as the frame, so look the bollocks, and protected it great too. I dont think it would be too hard to do it on this either, will have to make some alterations to accomodate the plastic chainguide bit on the swingarm, but im sure it wont be too much of a problem.

Ive got my super size can of WD40 sat here ready to rip, so i'l get onto that right away..

As for the own little forum comment, lets all make a petition, get RM to open up our own little subsection :D

Don't worry, full pictures up of the personalised stickers and everything in full glory.

Thanks again.
