Where does all this talk about the Hitman come from?
Have the bmx-boys said something about it at all, or is it just something us bmw-nerds are hoping, assuming, or dreaming of...??

It's been floating around for a while now. From some fairly reliable sources who know BMW. May be a 'roof huck' bike, I'd only buy her if she pedaled better than the others.

Magnifico, we look forward to pics of your project. Hopefully Bklyn will be helpful but in the event you are met with a less-than-desireable response, it be might helpful to be aware that New Yorkers are given far too many reasons on a daily basis to be suspicious of the stories people tell them to get whatever it is they want out of them. You may very well be working solely on a school project, but you could just as easily be working on something that would be a conflict of interest for their company and they would have no way of verifying one way or the other. Not trying to be negative, just a little heads-up from someone who was practically a treadmill for the scam artists her first couple of years in New York City.

"Chromagoddness". hehe. I might just have to change my screenname again.

I'd say it's about time for some ride photos, eh? Maybe xy9ine has been out on a mega-photo sesh and will return with some goodies to post. A friend said he snapped shots of me sailing the doubles last w/e but maybe they were too crappy or I hadn't quite pulled off the Ricky Carmichael style I thought I was rockin' and he's sparing me the embarrassment. sigh.

The Ricky style turns out to you be death gripping the bars and looking squirl. LOL. Brklyn pics = good pics (as long as I see the bike.)

HA! Probably right about the death grip/squirrelness. Maybe it's best I don't see what I look like riding so I'm free to continue living the fantasy that I AM the RC of DH.

Gold flake! You're such a blinger Tremendous. Wonder what happened to the fella that spray-canned his racelink? I hope the finicky luster kings didn't scare him off.

Found this shot of Doc from the US Open. Photo by Hcor.

Hah. I know a local guy that repaints his TMX monthly. Uses spraypaint from the local Home Depot, experiments with different colors.. Sometimes it comes out great, sometimes it comes out awful but it's certainly never a boring bike.

Sure, I can try. I'm not really social with the guy, but if I'm out and about with my camera and find him around (he's often pedalling it around town), I'll definitly take some pictures.

I live in southwest New Hampshire.

He had one really great coat that was a really dark, shimmering purple, looked pretty slick, almost like what ballpoint pen ink looks like when you get a big glob of it. Since then, it's been red, red and orange, green, then orange again. Always hits his shock spring with the paint too so it matches. I don't know where he finds the time to strip down and repaint his bike that often.

Cool if you can snap a shot but certainly no need to go out of your way. The ink blob color sounds interesting. I wonder if he takes pics of each new color. Damn skippy about all the time spent to do that so frequently. Especially on that bike, it's got so many nooks and crannies it's gotta be tough to get the zip strip in there.

My TMX has had several makeovers...it was originally lacquered over raw steel, but when I picked up the frame 2nd hand was a bit shabby, so I stripped it and semi polished it and relacquered.
Got bored with that and went bronze colour with flames, but over time the red pigment I used to mix the paint bled through and turned the frame a pinky colour!
It finally became a battleship grey....but it got chipped on the lifts in Les Gets, so it may be due for a change........

Here's the old colour scheme

It's beautiful. Lucky you with a chrome swingarm. How long have had it Millar? That pic from LesGets is still one of my favorite bike posed shots ever.

I guess it would.
But with the cost of a DH40.., I would rather throw in a few more $$ and buy an Ava instead. (But then again the Ava extends the wheelbase more..)

But I'm a singlecrown-kinda-guy anyways

Im away for 2 minutes and BAM, 2 more pages of topics. Jeeze, you have no idea how much effort is involved on clicking TWICE to read all the rest thats been posted :mumble: hehe.

Anyhow, Orange, best? You living in denial my friend ;)

Great shot of the bike millar, dunno if i've said it before (with regard to the mud bike picture) but it looked most odd with a mud caked bike, taken on a day with perfect blue skies and sunshine.

And the Hitman... erm.. lemme find the pic, it does exist, we're not all dreaming too much. Fortunately. Looks a reet beast.

Me thinks that is a pre-cursor to what they have in the """pipeline""" in regards to the Hitman in question because Avalanche isn't making that mama fuji shock anymore. Can't say for sure though.

I wouldn't hold my breath on a production run of the Hitman-In-Question. hehe. I've been reminded Bklyn has bikes simmering on the back burner for years before it gets moved to the bar-be for some serious grilling.

Edit: Yes Spitfire, older bike, referred to as the Big Link but I vaguely remember (oh good grief) someone there referring to it as the Hitman back when they first appeared. Maybe only six or seven of them ever made. Av stopped making the shock.

It will be 8 weeks this Saturday so that is the healing processfor broken bones. It is still very sore though. I am going to do a light skate on saturday and I see the Doctor on monday and see if he give the ok to Dh again. I have been road riding during the week.

I've had the TMX for about 2.5 years...not including the three and a half months when it was missing. I had it at my workplace without the wheels to make a bit of room at home, but unfortunately it got broken in to one night and the TMX was nicked :-(
It stayed missing for an age and I assumed it was lost forever, but it reappeared when some guy tried to buy a set of wheels for it from a bike shop who knew of the burglary. They told this guy that the bike was hot as you like, with only one or two others with the chrome rear in the UK and anyway the wheels were custom made. They advised him to get in touch with me.
So I got a call out of the blue from this guy offering me my bike back if I reimbursed him what he paid for it - £500. I agreed to meet him that day at said bike shop. In the mean time I went straight to the local police and after a lot of arsing around, they agreed to accompany me on an undercover sting!!

To cut a long story short, the guy turned up and took me to his car and lifted out the TMX in perfect condition, the police then came over and had a few words. Apparently he had bought the bike from some kid in the street, and he checked out and was allowed to leave with no charge.
I was reunited with my baby, to say I was happy would be a massive understatement!!!!!!!!

What do you think about the drop crown for the 888 on the race link?
I am thinking of getting that or looking at a boxxer.

I wanna lower the front end of my bike.

Info on the Masterplan. Not mine.

This bike was fully conceived as a one-off prototype, not intended for production. It's basically a lifted TMX, designed specifically for the Avalanche Downhill Racing fork and 3.5" stroke rear shock. The fork has been custom modified by Avalanche to get 9" of travel ( the stock fork gets 8")and the rear gets 10.5" to 12" of travel. The frame is of course full 4130 chromoly and has twin top tubes that blend into the Lenz Sport 25" long seat, which is directly mounted to a removable subframe. There's 30 feet of welding in this frame. The Avalanche shock is large, the size used on 65 and 80cc motocross motorcycles, and has a reservoir with independent high and low speed compression adjustment connected by a stainless steel hose. The reservoir mounts to the subframe, under the seat. There is no seat-tube or seat-post of any kind. The fenders are UFO motocross plastic. The front is for a KX 80/100, though any type of 80/100 front fender works with MTB sized wheels (KX, YZ, XR, CR, RM, etc.). The rear fender is modified from a CR 250 and is rigidly mounted to the subframe. Just for reference, the rear tire comes within a few millimeters of the fender under full compression.

What's with that seat?
The Masterplan, like the TMX, is a close coupled, relatively short bike with a short for downhill 44.75" min. wheelbase, 23" top tube ,and 16.75" min. chainstay length. This is a direct result of what was learned from the Supertrucker, Brooklyn's first DH bike. The Supertrucker is a GIANT bike that weighs over 60 pounds, has big suspension and tires and a LONG layout intended to add stability. Testing showed that the extra weight and BIG suspension and tires have a HUGE stabilizing effect and that the traditional longer DH layout might not be needed to give stability. The shorter TMX has proved this idea. While being 10 pounds lighter than the Supertrucker, it's still relatively heavy with a Monster T and 3" tires and with even more travel, it retains the MASSIVE BIKE stability. The short layout allows the bike to be handled much easier, with the rider staying more centered over the bike, resulting in better weight distribution and balanced traction from front to rear tires. A steer-from-the-hip motocross style works well. The big seat is an exaggeration of this new stay-centered-on-the-bike-and-let-the-suspension-do-the-work riding style. Compared to a normal DH seat, the Lenz Sport seat is about 2" longer in the back and 10" longer in the front. This allows the rider to virtually sit on the stem. With full weight over the front end and a gigantic fork to handle the load, the bike is COMMANDED to follow the front wheel with huge amounts of traction. On high speed sweepers where traction is sketchy, it is possible to carve a line 10 or 15 FEET tighter at full speed due to the increased traction. The high speed advantages are just plain ridiculous. For tight woods switchbacks: brake way late, sit in the middle of the top tube, weighting the bike in the center, and pivot the rear around with the hips, foot extended out in front of the forks. With half the steering coming from the fork and half from the rear, you're pulling serious G's. As all of this implies, a very aggressive riding style is the order. Oh and by the way, the Masterplan wears front and rear tires out at the same rate. While the rear gets the usual balding from braking, the front gets whole knobs ripped off all over from the extra traction.
