Cool... hopefully one day I might be able to buy a Brooklyn racelink with full Avy sus... until then; I can dream, hey?/ lol

I just think alu DH bikes are a ripoff especially as they only last 2 seasons!! Seems a slight con to me.....

Magic mate. Really was... Sold my Tomac 204, sold a load of other shizznitt, another long story involving my sister, a pony, and a wad of cash...

Then i imported it from big ol' USA. One helluva lot cheaper than over here, even though our second hand bike market atm is completely and utterly collapsed.

Oh one more question..... Hows the warranty on the minilink, being that you imported it from the USA ?/ Is it just as good as it would be had you bought it here?/

Maybe Currently Not Paying Attention is a more accurate name here. AR has a racelink that he purchased second hand, as he's made clear in various posts in this thread. No imported mini warranty applicable.

Don't mind me though, I might be hyper-sensative to the whole "warranty" thing since I just crashed my Ferrari into a wall and they're refusing to replace it. Squalking some crap about operator error, the nerve! I paid good money for that car. I didn't design it to reach 180mph, Ferrari did. Not my fault I was driving it at the speed it was designed to be driven, then lost control and ran into a wall. Sure, the safety features designed by Ferrari helped save my life, but I lived through it and want another Ferrari. I shouldn't have to pay for it because I didn't design the car to drive that fast, they did. Right? So what!, if they designed it to be driven fast under certain road conditions by an experienced driver, they made it, they should pay!

So sorry madam Chrome, one wasn't paying attention... I've had a jolly spiffing day and the last thing one would like to do is rummage through 60 spiffing pages of Brooklyn Literature....

So sorry dear lady.....

ok, peeps, back on topic.

up until now, i never really have been a fan of the looks of the avalanche DHF-8 fork on the brooklyn. I dont know why. I have never seen an avalanche fork up close. never really payed much attention to the internals of any fork until recently when i have my monster T and boxxer all apart. Both of those forks really looked mass produced and reeked of cheap internal parts.

I am not running the monster T next year on my new brooklyn. I wanted an avalanche cause of the rider support that you get from craig. I never could afford the Mtn-8 fork ($3300 usd) becides is weighs a ton. I always thought the DHF looked too small and too under-built. So i was left wanting his product but he did not have a product that fit what i wanted. But ...

Avalanche has a new fork coming out. It called the DHF-MT or somethink like that. is weighs 3 pounds more than the DHF-8Ti (their lightest fork). It has 45mm stanchions and a 3-bolt lower triple clamp.(see attached) And it is rated for hucking / freeriding for people up who weigh up to 250 pounds. Basically a burly version of the DHF-8. It is reported to weigh 11.2 pounds. THere are no pics but i hope to see a pic from Interbike.

I was on Avalanches site a while back and saw these images that really impressed me with the quality of the parts he us making. I cant wait for this new fork to come out. YIPPEE!

Here is a pic of the new lower triple clamp:

05 RL! wish i could share some pics but i'm sworn to secrecy until they debut at Interbike. Let's just say, they are less "race" and more "burl".

I told myself I wasn't going to buy another "emergency room" device on wheels but the cash was burning a hole in my pocket and my body has healed up and my resolve to stay healthy wore off. I'm getting another brooklyn and going to go big and go fast again. F it!

Great to hear about the new brooklyn, but i was quite happy having the newest design thankyou very much!

Good to hear about you gettin another brooklyn joel :) 2005 racelink for you perhaps?

Not sure if the less race more burl thing is good... could you let slip possibly about the weight? If you even have any idea about it?

I've been talking to the guys at Brooklyn and they definately beefed things up with the more recent racelinks. Mine is #43, which is fairly recent. It has the extra headtube gusset, and thicker tubing (i believe). Brooklyn's rep has been indestructibe bikes. They clearly want to keep that rep, thus making sure their bikes can take anything. Brooklyns are meant to be fast bikes due to their awsome linkage, yet still be able to take huge hits and insane drops.

I've heard different weight quotes for the racelinks. I've heard 11.8lbs, but that must be for the earlier racelinks. Go-ride says 14lbs. That sounds more accurate, since my racelink weighs the same as my avy-equipped Scream did.

Might consider that new racelink.

Personally, I think the Avy is the best looking fork out there, especially on the RL.

Yeah but i'm pretty sure that 14lbs is frame, avy shock, profile cranks, BB, and since you don't need a chain guide that's pretty reasonable.

No 14lbs is without the cranks and compensating for the Guide. The kit with cranks and all that stuff weighs 18 according to go-ride.

Hey Lexx. How did your fireworks show go the other weekend? Didja make it onto MTV? ;)
The fireworks were very good. Hopefully didn't get on MTV. The weekend was great, the only thing that pissed me off was i didn't get to night ride. i was drunk by 7:00 and didn't feel i should be on the mountain by then.

Wow! Lots of action in this thread lately...
I figured it must have been knucks with porn of his new mini. (is this guy the world's biggest bike whore?)

An honest jest though knucks... springing from pure envy. I am a long-time lurker, first-time poster to this thread. I caught the brooklyn bug a few years back and it stayed dormant in my system until I started seeing gorgeous minis... Now I have a full-fledged epidemic. Anyways, just signed on to do a second teaching year in Korea so that I can make the cash to afford a mini plus a summer in Whistler to romance it porperly before doing my grad school.

Hope you get that bike built soon. Also, this kid is dying to see some photos of the '05 RL. Who is gonna be our interbike insider?

Hope this thread continues to "rock like ****"

Brooklyn usually gets plenty of Interbike photos taken, check out Pinkbike.com for all the Interbike photos. The RL is soo sweet and has subtle yet definate changes for 2005. They said my frame is complete right now, just lacks the powdercoat and assembly. It should finish up sometime in October! Cant wait!

Looks like this thread is in dire need of some Dr Torquemada and the Great Inquisition. :p

tmxgoodness, I won't even venture into reading more than 3 posts in that brooklyn quality thread you posted. I'm not in a mood to get kicked off of RM right now :):p

When I was at BMW a few weeks ago I saw the new RL. It looks the same exceptfor some beefed up tubes and bigger gussets. I think he is using a 1.5 or 2 inch downtube. It has a little more weight to it but it will be much stronger.

So that kook did get kicked off. Shucks. I have some pent up anger I could have misdirected in his general direction.

Nice of you to drop by Dr. Torquemada. Don't suppose you have any new riding pics you care to share??? Didja hear, next year we're having a Brooklyn Love Fest. Everyone's sleeping on Siko's couches and we're showing up at 16 Powers Street unannounced demanding a tour and a ride to Plattekill.

I was at said location last night and saw a juicy little something hanging from the vine juuuuust about ripe for the picking and shipped to WOOstahhh. Got one word for ya Knucks, Ohmmmmmmm.....
