quck question everyone, ive had my racelink a good while now, and ive allways wondered why my swingarm and my frame are different numbers, my frame being #34 and the swingarm #31? ime ususure if this was just a mistake, its meant to be like that, or its been replaced at some point in its life. i know adys is the same both swingarm and frame... any help appreciated

and also when rebuilding last night, i was putting my right crank (non-driveside) back on the axle, remembering that it used to have a load of spacers on, i just plonked them on and thought no more, untill ady pointed out that the axle stud was miles away from the frame, instead of like the other one being as close as possible. so i took it all off and tried it without spacers, and discovered it wouldnt tighten, due to the axle being too damn long, now ime surprised at this, because i was under the impression that there were no axles wider than racelinks, but mine appears to be even wider... any idea where i can get a "normal" or shorter axle from, i will go measure it when i take my cranks off next time

edd
If you'd like, i'll pull my cranks off and measure the axle and tell you exactly what spacers go where so you can get it back together - if that helps any ???

How many grams or pounds does your RL weigh edd ?

What's curious about your frame numbers, is that they are soo close together. I would assume that the front triangle was replaced since it has a newer number, but it is only 2 frames newer. that's wierd???? Hmmm. Maybe they got switched at birth by accident. if that happened, your bike is ever rarer. is rarer a word?? Otherwise, #31 and #34 were in 2 batches, about 90-120 days apart and during that time, the front triangle of #31 was damaged and replaced with #34. Very interesting story for sure. It's like these bikes have a family tree.

that would be a great help joel, but thinking about it i could just get ady to measure his, his are allready splayed across his garage i think.

Cmon you know i sprayed my frame with halfords own brand paint, ime not gonna even have an approx for the weight! although i read yours was near 50lbs, something i find very hard to believe(saying this though i slung the frame over my shoulder when i was walking to my van last night and i found it pretty bloody heavy)

on the number thing, to me it looks like a crash replacement, but ime not 100% sure, so ime gonna get docs email off ady and send him an email to get to the bottom of it.

also, anyone any ideas on how to get 2 racelinks on a mini? :)

my RL is not built yet. i was using the internet to find the weight of all the parts that i might put on my bike and they all added up to 49 pounds. that's all. it was a quite Saturday night on the web.

Thats the million dollar question! I couldnt decide for ages, so went 26/24, and really like it, i like a slack head angle though. Looks like im gonna be runnin dual 24s soon though. Not much help, but i look at it as youll get used to anything! and all the pics of the brooklyn guys riding they seem to be runnin dual 24s, so they cant be all that bad!

i have run dual 24's on my last 2 bikes and love em.

I guess im dumb or something. all the talk to HT angles, BB height, it doesnt seem to matter too much. i cant tell a difference. if i feel comfortable sitting on the bike, i can ride it. i have to have the handlebars, stem, seat and pedals all in a certain place. if you look at all my previous bike's profile shot, they are all about the same. it's all my feel. i dont set up a bike with a protractor. Im sure that shows my ignorance.

The height of the TMX allows you to run 24's without bangin pedals in the ground. i like the arrow rim and tire combo cause they give you nearly 26" inches of height (25.75 inches) but lots more side wall of tire than the standard issue 26x2.35.

Guys, I think I sold my bike. The buyer is in England, how should I do the transaction? I was thinking have him wire funds to my bank account from his, is that safe? I would let the bank I go to deal with all that ****. Ive hear Western Union is really sketchy. And I dont wnat to have to wait for a check to clear...

Hey i just picked up tmx #54 over the weekend and i was wondering if i should keep the 24" wheels on it if i dh race?
depends how serious you are. 26's are faster rolling & there's a much better selection of tires to choose from. though the fact you're rollling a tmx suggests you're not totally obsessed with having the most cutting-edge world-cup ready race machine, so if you've got a good set of 24's allready...

Yeah, well I gotta get a racelink first. I want an 8" fork but I like to have a smaller backend. Might have to get a 7" fork instead or dual 24". But like I said - it's just speculation-

Edds Racelink with dorado's is bloody tiny in comparison to mine with 888s. Both dual 26"s, but if your after small, the dorado in 7" would be great. You don't notice the loss of an inch anyway.
and with those dorados it feels like crap....end of! 8" suits a racelink, (FOR ME!)

Macmx - Aye mate, aren't we all! But if your talking Avy's and Racelinks, my votes with the 8" versions, seem to go together like bread and butter.

Edd - That's why your going to cut me an excellent deal on the dorados, me being your mate n all, you hating them n all... ;)

Attention Joel Hester! - You got you fork "painted" (what's it called again), do you know which colors one can get?

I have it planne for an SC fork though, but that might be impossible.

As far as i know that was anodized, looked into it myself, i wanted some shiver scs doin gold. You cant just paint them as it doesnt last i think. Plus if you want stanchions doing its about 5 times as much money cos they need hard anodizing. Your spoilt for choice with colors, they can even do kind of electic blue fades that would look mad as f**k, decided it wasnt worth my money and the time off my bike though :( If you do it, your bling factor goes though the roof though ;)

since the Shiver SC's stanchions cant be removed from the crown, it isnt a good candidate for anodizing. cant really paint it either without creating a mess cause it's gonna look like sh*t after your first crash. You are better off going to your local sign shop that can a high-end printer that can print you a "wrap" for your fork. "wraps" are put on vehicles as promotion displays. you know what im talking about. let me find a pic. you could create your own design and mod your fork that way. i would not paint aluminum either. so your choice is very limited.

this is the first thing that pop's up but you get the idea.

you could create a wrap for each fork leg that is solid black and then have AVALANCHE's red/yellow logo down each side. jusst think of the attention that would reveive. maybe craig would build a SC after receiving 100's of call.

JK - dont do that, ever !! lol
