Joel,

I picked up a 2002 Monster T for $250. I cam going to have it all ano'ed black. Where should I go to do this? Locally? How much does it usually cost? I was thinking of doing other parts like bolts and **** and my hope levers. Will I be able to do all of this in one
batch?

the stachions will have to be hardcoat anodized. the rest of the stuff just regular ano. make sure that your anodizer is use to doing suspension stuff. they need to mic the stanchions before they strip off all the stock ano so that when they re-ano it, they can get the stock thickness. otherwise your new black stanchions will be too thick or too thin. either way, your seals wont work right unless they get it right. On a tired 02, your better off just keeping the stanchions stock and getting the lowers and crowns done.

Bummer. I will probably be sending the fork over to Cali over the winter... Anyone know if the 04 monster decals will fit on the 02 lowers?

you should have bought mine. you arent saving any money by doing the same thing with an 02. i would put that much time and $$ into an o2 model fork.

the 04 decals would not fit IMO. they are $60.00 too.

60$ for decals. How Marzocchi...
Well, while I agree that's a lot of money, you have to consider that it's very expensive for companies to stock and supply these small parts like bolts, decals, etc.

There's inventory management of small parts (which is a huge pain), they have to estimate how many extras they will need vs. how many they just need to put on their forks, there are labor costs to go pull one of those stickers from inventory and ship it...

Depending on how their business is set up, they may even need new SKUs in order to sell the stickers (for instance, we might have a part number for a syringe that goes into a kit, and a totally different part number for the exact same syringe to sell it by itself - that has to do with costing and packaging and such).

Just stuff to keep in mind - I'm sure Marz is not profiting from those sticker kits.

Iono, while I do see your point, 60$ for a set of decals still looks outrageous from my point of vue as a consumer. Don't get me wrong, I am a firm believer in the "you get what you pay for" stuff, but with things where it matters like a frame or a tire or some piece of electronic (hmm, MAYBE on electronics). But, again from my point of vue, there isnt much that can be done to a decal that would make it worth 60 of my own dollars. Unless its delivered by hot twin chicas in bikinis like brooklyn frames are. :p

arent the monster t decals a little different than a normal decal? i mean they're super thick and really long. sure $60 for a decal is outrageous but i think the monster t decal set for $60 is reasonable actually. im sure the cost of a print shop making one set would be double the price marz is charging.

I agree. From the perspective of what you as a consumer receive vs. what you pay, I think it's too expensive.

However, from the perspective of the manufacturer, it's probably not unreasonable.

So, who cares about stickers anyway? They don't do anything but get scratched :D

60 US for a set of stickers is expensive.
but the bigger the companies the higher the prices for spareparts of all sorts including those decals.

just make your own decals and get them done at your local "sticker shop"
might cost the same but then its unique :D

I made that fork before pink was even played. Pink was punk - now pink is played. The fork only looked like that for a few weeks, now it's black. Which is also played.

I hate when people always have to drag in facts that don't really have any relevance to the subject. I know white is all colors and yaady yaada. The spectrum of different colors of light, wavelength etc etc. But I do, however un-intellectual it might be, refer to black and white as colors on a normal day.

An irritating example: " just got back from England! I don't think there a place in the world that has that many frogs! They were everywhere"

"That's actually not true. Frogs are more common in the rainforests of south america..."

God damn, just shut up....

I was not trying to put you down. I know you were joking. I was trying to imply a joke in my first reply, which JB obviously didn't get. So now I had to set things strait just in case. Sorry.

You might want to pull out an old copy of "Dark Side of the Moon" and look at the cover and think about it for a bit. Be sure to look at the front cover as the back cover is wrong (backwards).

carry on :)

ok, back to the thread at hand.

What rear hub is the one to get for a RL? Will any hub with a 12mm axel work? Or do they require some special deal for the floating brake?

just a standard issue Hadley, Hope or any other 135mm x 12mm thru axle hub. the floating brake is 15mm wide making the total drop out 150mm. so when you lace up that 135mm wheel, you'll dish it for 150mm spacing.
