Its looking good shortbus. is that dual crown there to stay?Shortbus said:here we go boys and gouls.
Check out the MRP chainguide with the non included installation tools: hacksaw, sandpaper, blood, blisters and a LOT of free time.
The MRP cranks are a nightmare to install, but seem pretty cool so far.
PS before anyone stabs me in the ears, the barend stubs are SOOO coming off for brooklyn end caps. No worries.
Thank you and absolutely I  that forkdropthebreak said:Its looking good shortbus. is that dual crown there to stay?
altho it is a vanilla dh and not an rc perhaps i should not mess with a good thing and stick with the avy.AR_ said:A Fox Vs an Avy? Excuse me? Er, No.
Surely even without the driveside cog you can tell the differance by bouncing on the arse end?
You can actually tell very little about how a shock is gonna behave in action by bouncing on a static bike. Thats a common mistake. Your Avy is valved and sprung particularly for your Brooklyn but you could always bolt on the Fox and try it just for comparison - why not ? It'll confirm how good the Avy is, if nothing else !AR_ said:A Fox Vs an Avy? Excuse me? Er, No.

Word, that's why I got rid of my shiver sc. When I got the FQ, I did the same thing and said sh*t, I need a stiffer spring. However, riding the bike, the rear end doesn't move while pedalling. Really. The shiver SC up front however was like a pogo stick. Now imagine having a rear end that doesn't move and a pogo stick up front when your trying to get up a hill. Not fun. Plus with 120mm Shiver SC, when sitting on the bike, I'm probably down into the last 3" of the travel, wich makes the steering a bit twitchy. Now I'm thinking of either an 05 z.1 150mm with the air preassist preload, or a 66RC 150mm (the one that's adjustable, not the useless one)randalliser said:You can actually tell very little about how a shock is gonna behave in action by bouncing on a static bike. dude, if you could swing that new Fox single crown, that would look so kick ass. It is soo burly. i have seen the dual crown fox in person but not the sc. get it, get it!!Knuckleslammer said:Word, that's why I got rid of my shiver sc. At the moment I'm running an 02 Shiver SC on my HT and an 04 Z150 on another bike which previously had a Shiver on. With the hard springs, 10wt oil and the oil height raised a little, the Shiver works a lot better than stock. The Z150 is a much beefier bit of kit and noticeably heavier than the Shiver but works great, it slackens out a head angle that was too steep with the Shiver. I reckon the Z150 would be great on your FQ - I think Ged may have run his with one.Knuckleslammer said:Word, that's why I got rid of my shiver sc. I'm not 100% sure but I would think it's thereabouts...Shortbus said:Isnt the Z150 basically more or less the same as my 01 Super T that has 150mm travel. Height and angle wise that is.
Joel, or anyone else who has seen the Fox 40 in person, how does the 24" tire clearence seem to be on the fork lowers(the fork lowers appear to be the same from the 40 to the 36)? Think you can squeeze in a 24x2.75 arrow tire in there?Jimmy_Pop said:dude, if you could swing that new Fox single crown, that would look so kick ass. i have not gotten as far as buying the pro-carbon guards yet. i ordered some new ones from avy last week, they showed up yesterday. i think i am going to use some ghetto parts and put the RL together this weekend. Im so tired of looking at it hangin in the bike stand.xy9ine said:i wish the fox fork wasnt so damn fugly (or i wasnt such a fashion victim) - it looks soooo good on paper. that avy is going to rock on your rl - with carbon guards - yum.
Cool thanks for posting that Joel!Jimmy_Pop said:this is the vid and pics from the best crash i have ever had. I am the last rider on the tape.

afterlooking at it, alot, i think when i landed, the suspension when to the bottom (it was a hard hit - hurt the hands) and my feet blew off the pedals and i veered off course and stuck the front tire in a drainage ditch and that is what hoisted me up and over and into the tent.Shortbus said:Cool thanks for posting that Joel!
From the video though it looks a lot more like you endo'ed while riding front heavy. kinda hard to explain i guess. I was under the impression that the landing itself had bounced you right off.
ya makes sense. you can tell you land pretty hard by how it knocks you off the clips instantly. From my exp the TMX would just kinda setlle into its travel on landings and kinda stay in there. Definitely would blow through its travel quite easier than my mini did on the same jumps/drops I do. Of course mine were wussy 4 footersJimmy_Pop said:afterlooking at it, alot, i think when i landed, the suspension when to the bottom (it was a hard hit - hurt the hands) and my feet blew off the pedals and i veered off course and stuck the front tire in a drainage ditch and that is what hoisted me up and over and into the tent.
I think the Racelinks progressive suspension would have not given me such a hard landing. From what i understand about the TMX, the rear shock does not ramp up to absorb the hard, fast hits. It becomes a hardtail at that point.

Joelio, that's not at all what I thought happened. I thought you were bucked from the take off. It's hard for me to see how the T's rear got you, but I'll be watching it several times throughout the day for amusem--- I mean for research and see if I can spot it. (Don't anyone rag on me for not seeing it if it's completely obvious to you all. I'm slow that way, okay? Thanks.)
You looked great through the top though big J. Can't wait to see footage of you on the new bike. Or see you ride it live if I can get my arse to Angel Fire this year.
Don, congrats on the 20". I hope you love yours as much as I love mine. You're a lucky bugger with that fork and those Snot Rockets.
