hmm i don't have that issue with my RL, been running the hadley 12mm 135 in it for 2 years now...

it has been a while since i really "looked" at it but when the bike was new and i was molesting every square inch, i noticed the axle was alittle smaller than remember other axles being. the axle on my V10 is a TIGHT TIGHT fit. FWIW.

its probably not a big deal. but under the stresses of downhilling on rough stuff at high speed, that abuse is going to exploit any "play" in tolerances.

Its a 550 by 3.0. So it should work on Fox or Manitou shocks as well as avy.

fox, progressive & manitou springs are interchangable, but they are a smaller diameter, and therefore dont fit properly, romic & avy springs (which are interchangable).

i installed my TI spring a few minutes after this shot was taken yesterday then my camera died and i dont have the charger. owell, i like the Ti spring. I'll get to test it out soon and see if i can feel any difference.

Our bikes definatley deserves Ti springs, no doubt. Have you gotten that Ti spindle yet? Is that a new crank-chainwheel I see aswell?

i've got a profile ti spindle with knight titanium crank & chainring bolts kicking around if someone's in need; that steel spindle is an anchor.

funny about the Ti spindle. i have the Profile Ti spindle. it is about a 1/2 inch longer than the stock, steel spindle. to make up for that difference, you have to space ONE crank arm out much further than the other. you cannot space them evenly. i didnt like that at all. second, i put the stock steel spindle in one hand and the longer Ti and all the spacers in the other and the difference was minimal. so i put the steel spindle in and now enjoy a much cleaner installation.
I wish they made a Ti spindle in the same length as stock.

Ps, those are the cranks i ordered with the frame 165's. im going to order another set of LHD arms in black and in the standard size, not the oversized arms in attempt to save alittle weight. The steel spindle and the DJ arms are really heavy.

Hmm.. I just bought a 6,875" Ti spindle for my RL. (This is the one Brooklyn told me to buy).. Haven't mounted it up yet. But I'm gonna check it out tomorrow. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I have run the 6.875" Ti RL .spindle from the start - no problems whatsoever... With careful use of spacers the crankarms can sit fairly equal each side and I hardly noticed the extra spindle length.

not only do you have to manage the spacers on the crank spindle, but I was very particular with making sure the 28t chainwheel was properly spaced with the upper jackshaft pulley.

My testing showed that if you only spaced the arms evenly on the spindle in relation to the rear swing arm, you were not able to get proper alignment with the jackshaft pulleys. The pulleys on the jackshaft are already sitting way out towards the end of the axle. I dont see how you can add half and inch of spacing on the jackshaft to keep up with the crank spindle.

For me, my spacing put right hand crank arm alot further out than the crank arm that holds the 28t chainwheel.

I'm particular with alignment and in my line of work. i deal with alignment and items being "square" with eachother all day long and, eventhough ive run the 6.875" spindle for months now, it always bothered me. Especially when i compared the weights, it was nice to go back to the stock spindle. that way, i dont have to use those ghetto profile spacers. the spacers that doc builds look much cleaner without having to add more spacers.

The alignment of my chainring/jackshaft is spot on 100% - wouldn't consider having it any other way. I'm using a Ti imperial which is thinner than the stock BMW chainwheel so maybe thats aided my setup... dunno. There is a very small amount of room to play with regarding how much axle is engaged in the crankarm too. I'll try and get some pics up to show how my setup is - I recall it took 3 attempts to get everything spaced and aligned correctly... I've done scores of Profile setups over the years at work and everytime it bugs me how awkward it is to get Profile arms off the spindle - I'm not a big fan of beating stuff with mallets ! Profile axle spacers are ghetto but a fact of life when setting up 3 piece cranksets imo !

OK so since this thread is alive again i'm X posting my jump on my park bike. The jump is about 60 feet and almost 45 feet of vert. No animals or trees were harmed in the testing process.

So with profiles you actually hammer the cranks ON the spindles? I have the MRP bones cranks and you hammer them off with a special screwed bolt in place, but you put em on using the cranks bolts and a lot of grease.... And I've installed and taken off the MRPs about 12 times now and they still mount clean and nifty. I had no clue with profiles you hammer the cranks on. Weird.
