ok, #105 update. we do a annual thursday night ride. urban. and yes really JRA, he snaps his chain in half and bends a tooth on the imperial sprocket. bmw needs to stop sending it with the sram ss chain. its sucks balls..

only took me about 45min to use a big rock and my pocket tool to get it to ride home on.

I originally also had this problem and it's 100% because of the Sram PC1 chain. Ditch it (or keep it in a box to remember how much you hate it) and get as burly of a BMX chain as you can find. I personnally HIGHLY recommend the KMC Z510HX (sometimes referred to as Drop Buster). What happens is as the PC1 snaps it keeps damaging the imperial teeth (he bmw sprocket seems to hold up fine). finely sand paper the imperial teeth back smooth and clean up, very very lighty grease em and mount your KMC chain and forget about it. =)

I read a BMXer review of teh drop buster where he sproket grinded (ground?) on that chain on concrete for almost 6 months before it finally gave life. That's to say about its strength. My PC1 kept litterally shearing in HALF and pins would sometmies shoot out like mini bullets. Not sure if you can hunt dear in the woods that way while riding

depends on weather. pkill rain is mad fun but diablo rain is just maddening. but if i do go to diablo that w/e i'm entering the jump contest...though i don't like the whole costume thing and you have to wear a costume to enter the contest. no, i can't really jump for poody, but it's a super fun event.

the new pearl rockshox would fit with motion control. i messured it up last diablo trip...
I've been thinkin of trying one of those RS Pearl shox on the RL myself. The biggest is, 222x66 (8.75x2.6"), and I guess it would fit fine. Will reduce travel, and lower the bb a little bit. I would not part with the AVA though. We'll see..

#105 looks good, congrats. Welcome to the family :)

d'oh! drenched!! i'm changing his name to doomed105. :D

good times on saturday. always good to see echo and nice to meet insty-gator (again). thanks for bringing everyone around dhs.

I wouldn't mind trying a 9x2.75 dhx air for nothing more than curiosity. If it was a good amount lighter and worked close to the avy in terms for performance, i'de run it as the first shock..

I would NEVER get rid of the Avy though, it would always be a backup. I trust Fox shocks about as far as i can throw them (If fox shocks weighed a few tonnes.)

It had to be a remote resorvar dhx air then. I was thinking of going for the normal dhx air, but didn't fit. The res hits the swingarm, bigtime. :help:

i think the near future will bring remote rez air shocks to the market but we are still stuck with the 9"x3". Hell, the new Avy lightweight shock doesnt even come 9x3. im not complaining or anything, im just sayin.

Anyone know where I can find geometry numbers for the TMX?
Looked at BMW's US and UK site, but couldn't find it...

I'm particular interested in finding out the top tube & chain stay length, and headangle.

You think it could be set it up for DH with a 7" DHS fork?
No serious racing or anything. Just riding for fun! :)
Maybe it's called freeriding. Not sure...

Oh, and approximate frame weight?

from the old site:

tmx

it was originally designed with a 7" fork in mind. the headangle is a bit steeper than current dh frames (though is adjustable with the optional shock mount holes), and the bb a bit high, but makes a decent play bike.

frame weight is definately heavier than the 12.5lbs listed on that page. i've got mine stripped down; i'll give it a weight...
