Well, - the RM9 was, as you said, not a success - but since this thread has reached 3000 posts I dont think it is a problem even though a post or two would eventually contain a non-brooklyn machine. Especially considering the crap which sometimes have been posted just to keep this thread alive. But ok, - respect to the fact that it IS a BMW thread.

its too bad evil is only making a 26tooth chainwheel with bash guard. i'll still get one and make another ring for it to stay the same ratio. but still

i like the blue one there. all it needs is the bottom of the king headset. no point for the upper

Perry, in the photo above, i just noticed you have a different jackshaft "washer" thingy that holds the cog tight. what's the story on that? Also, can you recommend a company that sells the cool fasteners in exotic materials like you have on your frame(s)

PS, not that im looking at it, the small cog above your profile looks damn thick? thicker than stock??

thanks,

joel

...actually, i really love nucleons for their borg-like aesthetics. you still trying to sell that thing?
I'm am but I'm puting the least amount of effort into it. lol

I'll probably just end up rebuilding it with wayyy lighter parts.

dunno about the jackshaft washers - thats what came with the bike.

racebolts.com is your one stop source for hardware trickery. aluminum nuts, bolts & washers in a rainbow of colors & titanium hardware of all shapes & sizes. i've spent way too much $$ there over the years. the tmx had 40 titanium bolts on top of all the gold aluminum nuts & washers. stupid fun. i'd love to ti out a nucleon...

the small jackshaft cog was for an 1/8" chain. i filed the crap out of it to make the 3/32 8-spd chain work.

How much weight can you POSSIBLY save by going to all Ti bolts?? Wouldn't it work out to be the same weight savings if you got a lighter stem or seatpost?

Cause winters are long and boring and most fasteners that are used by component makers are pure junk.

Knuckleslammer

took the red pill
Ima send in some cash soon for a RL. I'd like to go with black again, but everything I own is black. So pick me a color. Blue, brown, orange, pink, tan, yellow are out. So I switch the tires on ma bike to holy rollers and it works mint on the street. Then I did some downhill on it with same said tires  BTW this thing was real fun doing downhill, it's just the tires now I have are good for street, suck for dirt.

So, why the hell not order an RL right?

I thought about it and even though it's not the easiest for worcester XC :d it's still a fun bike, just a bit tough on the knees for a tall guy

i should figure that out one day. maybe a quarter lb? depends on the bike obviously. its the stuff you do AFTER you allready have the lighter stem & seatpost. plus ti just looks way better than steel. i hate rusty bolts. replacing leaden steel with ti is just a fun thing to do - more cool factor than performance gain really.

how much do these bmws with profiles and avy fork and shocks weigh???
With an avy fork and a decent build around 47 pounds is my guess.

But, they come with avy's and only avy's. There aren't too many other options because of the odd shock spacing of 9x3.

Also the Profiles are standard. You could possibly buy some different bmx cranks or spend a ton of time making MTB cranks fit but you wouldn't save enough weight for either of those to be worth it. Plus the Profiles are very strong.
