even just as a cleaning solvent?
its tooo strong. you never need anything that strong for a bike. unless its a 30year old rust bucket, you're trying to steal some campy parts off of.
plus on the bmw, since its steal, WD40 will just eat it away over time.

Really I didn't know that, I've been spraying wd 40 down my seatube religiously. I'll stop that then. What else should I spray in there to keep it from rusting?

if you can get your hands on some stuff called "bike aid" its pretty much the best. any good bike shop should have some - about $10 a bottle. Be real careful with it tho - its molybdenum based.

Hi Daan, long time no speak. How are you? Been back to the Big Apple lately? I escaped from New York recently for the vast expanse of the Wild Wild West and I love it. Doc's new machine shop is coming along great!

Anyway, back on topic: WD40 is very good for the inside of your seatube. I think (and hope) DHS was talking about other parts of the frame and components, which is correct that WD is far from ideal.

t-girl! how goes? tell me more!
Hey P-Daddy. ; ) Going good. Howzabout you? Goll durnit I miss all y'all and the exchanges we used to have in your little thread. It's cool though, good times ahead!!

Tell you more about what, the pump track in our backyard or doing shuttle runs with a WC champ? ("with"?...more accurately "doing shuttle runs in a galaxy far far behind a WC champ.") Jokes aside, I'm pretty sure your interests are more about stuff like the Bridgeport and South Bend machines expected in today and what will be produced with said mill and lathe. :monkeydance: Yeeehaw!

you live next to peter north? ;)
OT a little
haha, my brotherinlaw and his family did live right next door to that guy. Early 80's and he'd have crazy partys all the time. Not fun when you are in the apartment next door @ 2:45 AM on a Tuesday. lol
He never knew who he was until a movie was rented and well it was the hedge hog on the screen. lol

kinensis usa I believe, same place mountaincycles were made
I was actually able to tour the factory when they were doing the parkbike, v10 and MC bikes. It was crazy to see the huge racks of frames. Obviously I've never been in a factory

I've been seeing BMW's with shocks other than avy's recently? Does Craig still deal to them? Or did he have a falling out with the company when Doc left?

...and if so that would indeed be sad.....I think the BMWs seem to work very nicely indeed with the Avy.
its because Doc worked with Craig to match the frame perfectly to the DHS (the linkage rates rising falling etc whatever they're called). IINM I heard that the DHS was developed for that frame too. That one I could be wrong on, but I know the RL was designed specifically for the Avy DHS.

And it wouldn't be sad, I have a feeling Craig and Doc are going to be continuing their business relationship... I don't really give a rats a$$ about what happens to BMW now. Do I want to see them fail? No. I honestly really hope that all the publicly published information in regards to the company from interviews with Pharrell is going to hold true.

in some peoples' eyes (i'd have to say i'm in this camp) doc was bmw. unfortunately i see bmw becoming another victim of branding. the company has a unique pedigree that's eminently marketable - pharell is no dummy. that said, i'm a huge fan of doc's work & am looking forward to seeing what emerges from his shop next - regardless of the sticker on the downtube.

I am one of those people you speak of as well. I cannot wait to see what he has cooking up in the labs. That being said I honestly wish the best of luck to those currently involved w/ BMW. But its no longer the same company. Its like if some schmucks tried to get the Clash back together without Joe Strummer.
