sounds like you invested in the wrong bike. sorry, but have fun replacing everything on it essentially. there are wayyyy better bikes for that price.

My complaint on the headset is that for standard, its a pain in the a$$ to change/install. I prefer to have things easy and maintenance free. The bike does land well. And it fits me perfectly on the length. The short cranks do not feel right. You are a guy, I am a girl. Girls tend to have much longer legs then upper bodies, esp. me. I need a short upper tube and the recommended crank length of 175mm works for me. I like the "feeling" of a smooth pedal and the sound of decent bb and hubs. Thats whats fun for me. Dude, if you get off riding a bike that rattles everytime you land, cool, Kmart has plenty of those for you. For me when I got a decent unicycle, I started riding twice as much since it was smooth as butter. It made it More fun.

Sorry cmc, you dont know everything! Even the guys at the track told me if I got a race bike, like you suggested, it would be dented up in no time on the streets. Then you told me to get a cruiser with a 22" tt and another bike with an 18" tt. Dont you know that even 1/2" DOES change the way you are on the bike and how you position your body? Of course probably not you, me YES. I tested the haro again and this one does land better and the 0.3" shorter does feel a TON better. So this is the right size, not going to change something that fits,

I think I just need to fix up the cranks and bb and ride some better wheels. Why should I ride something that doesnt make me happy riding it or end up riding my old bike that doesnt even fit me? I have the money saved and will sell my old bike too. I should have gone all out while I can get parts WHOLESALE and free work done. So now I will pay up and pay up later more then twice of what it would have cost me now.

I dont ride to ride, I ride because its fun. So why not make it fun? 36 sprocket, OK, just limits me on wheels. I'm probably going to get some Sun Ringle Super Stock wheelset now as there are no other wheels with a free wheel. And get an adaptor for the back. If I get custom, costs a lot. Hopefully since I dont weigh a lot they will hold. But for a 200 lb guy, they wouldnt. Thats why its nice to be able to get a wheel with a driver as they have 3 wall ones for you bigger guys that go hard. cmc, if you get off on crap, cool. Me, love the sound of good hubs, smooth pedaling, bikes with lots of pop, smooth landings, and want one in my size that I can throw around. If its not fun, I have other sports which are. So only doing it if its fun dude.

cmc, here is the perfect bike for you! Lets see you do a back flip and do some sick jumps with this:

why so salty, because you bought a pos bike? how often do you plan on changing headsets? what does 'land well' mean?

try swapping it out for something else.

well, i'd like to address a few things here.

1. despite the fact you are indeed a woman, you are only 5 feet tall. therefore, your inseam is more than likely remarkably short, even if you are all legs.

2. if you like the feeling of a smooth hub and bottom bracket, why are you running a freewheel, and why would you replace it with another one? freewheels are awful compared to a decent cassette hub. however, your preference of freewheels tells me you get off from riding a bike that pops and skips and feels like you have gravel on the inside of your hub.

3. you get off from a bike? i prefer women, or porn. you are a woman though, so unless your sexual preferences stray from the norm, i would imagine you would enjoy the company of a man, no? you may want to go see a psychologist if you get off to a bike. that's pretty damn serious.

4. why the HELL would you even think of buying a race bike to ride street with? this alone made me almost cry. when did this ever become a good idea? actually, i take that back. that is an awesome idea. i'm going to go grab my trek madone and hit up the skatepark for a bit...

5. don't YOU know that racing does not mean street? of course probably not you, me YES, everyone else, YES.

6. nobody ever told you to change anything really. they pointed out your faults and wrongs, and you got mad about it. it's your fault for not listening to people who obviously know more about bikes than you do.

7. cmc seemingly knows more than you, and i wouldn't doubt it, based upon what i read here.

8. ok, you want cheap wheels. but you'll destroy a wheelset like the superstocks. notice it's $80 for the set? what does that tell you? anything? i hope so. it doesn't matter if you don't weigh much, those wheels are awful. i only weigh 160, but i spent $600 on my wheels, so that they will last. my advice is get a cassette wheel with a 13t cog on it (yes they do exist, and it's painfully easy to find one, you have to look first.)
i looked for 30 seconds and here you go: http://www.danscomp.com/402029.php?cat=PARTS

that right there is a genuine odyssey cassette wheel, available with a cog driver, and here's the big one... it comes with a 13 tooth cog? wowwwww, that was hard, huh?

9. anyone who has bought a bike part in the last 5 years does not have triple wall rims, unless they are of exceptional girth.

10. nothing wrong with a 36t sprocket. i run a 36 tooth sprocket. you just don't know what you're talking about really. it doesn't really limit wheel choices either. sometimes, you have to get a handlaced wheel from your shop. but this shouldn't be an issue, because you get free work done and parts on wholesale. and not just wholesale, but WHOLESALE. free wheel building and cheap parts. i recommend an odyssey rim.

11. you get off on crap? there's a video called 2 girls, one cup, if you want to get off to crap. and since you get off to bikes also, i can hatch a turd in your seat tube and take a picture if you want.

12. i don't think cmc would really ride that kids bike, it seems more suited to someone your size. no chainstay brakes, smaller sprocket, and short top tube. why didn't you buy that instead?

hope i answered your questions and concerns.

Geez, whatever. The whole point of this thread was there are really NO bikes with a tt of 19.5". I had TWO options. So there is ONE wheel that I can fit a 13t on? I know a heck of a lot about bikes. Just not BMX.

If you guys dont enjoy bikes, why ride. OK, no more posts, I'm gone, this is lame. If this is how BMXers are, not sure I want to identify. No wonder no girls around here ride.

consider this: it may not be us, it may be you. you came in with a pretty high and mighty attitude, and despite what people told you, you went out and bought a piece of sh!t essentially, and now you're mad because people tried to tell you this. a 19.5" and a 20" top tube aren't that different. i've changed top tube sizes with every frame i've had, and it takes maybe one session to get used to.

seeing as you are a beginner, you wouldn't even notice the difference unless someone told you.

there is more than one wheel, perhaps if you read what i wrote, you would realize that i said this. that was one wheel i found in roughly 30 seconds looking for one. let me give you an economics crash course right quick.

supply and demand is an economic model based on price, utility and quantity in a market. It predicts that in a competitive market, price will function to equalize the quantity demanded by consumers, and the quantity supplied by producers, resulting in an economic equilibrium of price and quantity.

in short, as the bmx community moved towards smaller drivetrains, 2 piece cog drivers were virtually obsolete except for in the racing scene. therefore, companies are less likely to offer a 2 piece cog driver because nobody would buy one.

you bought a beginner's bike, and now you're mad that you can't really upgrade it. YOUR FAULT it sucks, but that is what happens when you don't listen to people who know what they're talking about.

no bikes with a 19.5" toptube you say? this goes back to the laws of supply and demand. higher end will almost never have a top tube shorter than 20.5" for completes. this is because nobody would buy them. so if you want a better bike that is remotely worth upgrading, you need to either:
a) deal with it and ride a bike that is .5" longer, it won't be any different.
b)build a custom from the ground up (pm me and i can help you pick parts if you want.)

sorry you had to do this to yourself. hope you fit something that suits you.

you know what, i know a lot about BMX and not much of anything about other bikes!! clip-in shoes? gears? deepV's? 8 inch travel? i have no idea. i really do think you got a pretty good BMX bike for the money. if someone is telling you different, they are wrong !! so i disagree with GromDom on that one.

btw....

that would be true for a normal weight rider, but on page 1 you specifically said you had been hanging out at the bmx track and that you were NOT planning on riding skatepark and that you were sticking to dirt. makes sense for me to suggest an Expert sized bmx race bike. only later did you say you wanted to ride street or park.

You can pay more for a decent frame than you paid for that Stolen....
Just ride it a while, and keep an eye out for some nice used stuff. If you stick with it, you should be able to gather up some nice parts to build a new bike for pretty cheap.
And seriously, don't take the internets too seriously.

I am 5'3" I run crank lenghts from 165 to 175 depending onthe bike. My geared MOB I use for all around I run 170s actually that is my preferred length my Dh bike I run 165s for ground clearance same with my fixed gear. My road bikes, xc bikes and 24" molosse all have 170s and my fit cr 24 has 175s so how being 5' and finding 170s on a bmx 20" too short is beyond me
