... are an odd lot.

I was at the local "alternative" bike shop the other day, hanging out and fixing some crappy bikes. A guy comes in with a big pile of high end BMX parts, and donates the lot of them. Right after he leaves, a couple other guys walk in, and say they're interested in some of the parts the first guy just dropped off. We get to talking, and it turns out that they're friends with the first guy. They'd been riding together, when a nut in the first guy's pedal stipped out, causing the body to separate from the spindle, which in turn caused him to biff. Naturally he wasn't happy, so he did what any sane person would do- he went home and completly dismantled his bike. Unlaced the wheels, took absolutly everything apart- the whole 9 yards. He then realized he didn't really know what he was doing, and was never going to get it all back together, so he just came down and donated it. His friends then left with most of his bike. I snagged the pedals, and after a quick trip to the hardware store, they were up and running again. Total cost: $0.43.
