I'm looking for a source that seems to supply the bike industry with the same type of bolts/screws. The screw I'm looking for are those polished alloy steel socket head cap screws with captive washers, like those that Azonic uses on their stems. The heads don't have knurls and the washer is the same diameter as the head. None of my suppliers carry these or know where to get them. If any of you industry people know where I can get them, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks - CM

Didn't find what I need, but thanks for the link. Already spent a couple days doing an internet search, with no results. There are a couple manufacturing/engineering sites with supplier links that might pan out. Thanks.

so you just want M6 socket head bolts in Stainless Steel? (As seen on Azonic Shorty Stems)

www.boltdepot.com

any local metric fastener supplier will have these, incredibly common man.

The knurling around the head shouldn't matter at all, bolt depot's picture shows it, but you can get them without the knurling as well.

Also McMaster-Carr

Mcmaster.com should have them, you may have to search through several pages to find it though. If you can't get them there maybe accutite could hook you up, they usually only do industrial sales so far as I know but they may hook you up if you sweet talk them.

I'm not looking for stainless steel screws, I have hundreds of those in my shop. The screw I'm looking for happen to come off a shorty ( circa 1999 ), but I have a bunch of bike parts lying around with those same screws and I don't ever see them on anything else but bike parts.

What I'm looking for are steel socket head cap screws with captive washers. The head/washer are the same diameter and slightly undersize from standard (lack of knurl). This diameter is important for my application.

I checked with all my suppliers (aerospace & industrial) and no one carries anything like it so it appears it isn't a standard.

I could turn down standard screws and turn my own washers but I may need a large quantity and would rather buy them.

I'm sure you can get them somewhere, I am almost positve azoinic and every other stem manufacturer don't custom spec bolts, you might have to try calling azoinc or whatever company you want to sit on hold with and ask to speak to thier purchasing department, they should be able to tell you where they get their fasteners.
