When I look at this picture I understand why some people doesn't like E-Bikes. In a place like that you need a light bike, something playfull. Climbing is not a problem because hills are going to be really short and the rides are never going to be too long...
So yeah, you can make fun of E-Bikes all day long, but to me that's not Mountain Biking either...

ok...so there are vids of uber talented dudes “shredding” on ebikes. there are also vids of uber talented dudes “shredding” on fixies, klunkers, road bikes...good for them. doesn’t make me want any of those bikes. they’re all stupid for the intended application. just because someone can, doesn’t mean eveyone should.

E-bike haters are fighting a losing battle. May as well save your energy as they're here to stay.

There were holdouts (myself included) when the lizards decided that 26" was too small a wheel diameter and look where we are today. I can still be a #26forlyfe bro and you don't have to ride e-bikes - who cares.

The guy did a double backflip at the end though, so you know it correlates with the everyday trail rider.
What's your point? I'm sure you'd still be able to do shite wheelies, 45deg barturns and ugly endo turns or whatever the fuck "trail riding" constitutes for you on this bike

I was able to demo an Intense Tazer e-bike on a recent trip down to Bentonville AR. I was expecting to not like the feel, but was blown away how much fun it was. The climbs became "fun", and the bike absolutely shredded on the downs. Prior to this trip I would not have even considered buying one, but I am 100% sold on buying one. For my style of riding they will be fantastic for doing "shuttle" type days, with no need for a shuttle, or chairlift....

Cheers!

I’ve seen many of them in my neck of the woods lately.

I actually saw a guy pushing his up the climb trail yesterday because his buddy was unable to pedal up climbs.

Passed another guy last week on the way down. It was a flat pumpy part of the descent.

Oh man I can't wait until my Decoy arrives so I can go pound out lap after lap at demo. My lady is pretty stoked to get an e-bike to go do multiple flow laps a day too!
WTF size are you gonna get? The biggest one has what a 500 reach? Don't you need like a 625 to be in the ballpark?

My mega trail is 520 and I run a 40mm stem on there. I think the 495 should be close enough with a 60mm stem. Mega trail is definitely on the long side of what's ideal for me I think. I've been putting a LOT of time on my CX/XC/commuter e-bikes the last year so I've been getting used to a slightly shorter reach.

I'm friggin pumped!! Especially once they release the 700Wh battery. Endless laps at Pacifica, demo and UC!

dude.
dunno how tall you are.. .but...
Due to the extra weight I'd never choose an overly long Eeb. They're stableAF already. but going too long on wheelbase/reach makes them much harder to ride playfully (mannys, hops etc. juggernaught Eebs do still jump just fine tho).
DH bike sort of ballpark chainstay length seems to be the sweetspot too (which the Decoy for me has). Just short enough to stay fun... not so short you're struggling for uphill grip or fighting to keep the front wheel down in boost. (this will depend on your height though I suppose)

Pacifica, UC, go for it. Those trails are more or less unregulated so it's a free for all any way. Being a dick and riding trails that are specifically for people who have the testicular fortitude to pedal..... You my friend are why e-bikers and e-bikes suck. I hope I see you on the trail so I can heckle you. Just get a moped and ride demo on that you fucking pussy :busted:

Changing wheel sizes is not the same as strapping a motor on a bike and pretending you're still doing the same sport. I'm not saying it's not fun or you can't get shreddy on an e-bike. I'm saying it's not mountain biking and you shouldn't take your motorized vehicle on trails where everyone else got there under their own power. Go ride the OHV areas with that shit. There are lots of great trails that allow motorized recreation.

BTW I've been seeing a trend lately. When a crew of riders rolls up and there's that one fat one, they seem to be on e-bikes a lot of the time these days. They're not getting any skinnier skipping out on all the cardio. MERUKUH!

^^^^Most of the people who ride UC and Pacifica do it "under their own power". Why does the fact that those places are unregulated make it ok to ride an ebike there but not in Demo?

(I'm feeling pretty neutral about the whole thing. Regardless, e-bikes are here to stay so we all better get used to them.)
