Maintenance on a 06 boxxer, Taking it apart and changing the oil and stuff like that, is this easy to do?

that's why we drink it here
Take it to someone who knows what they're doing the first time. Watch what they do.
Then you'll know first hand what it is you need to do, and how hard it is.

I took the boxxer apart. Drained the oil. The manual calls for 15ml of oil in each lower. The oil i drained is approx. 10 times that amount. WTF

Seals look good, are there any subtle things i should look for because they appear to be in nice shape.

Im thinking this fork is an 05. How can i confirm that? The first 2 digits on the SN are 05.

I believe it is a 2005 boxxer. According to the manuals on srams website, the 2006 has one spring and my fork has 2.

What does it say on the arch? Pics maybe? My old boxxer didn't go by mL's. It went by a fluid level height measurement with the stanchion pressed all the way down.

As it turns out, my fork is a 2005. Took the whole thing apart and cleaned it up a bit. Seals were still good so lubed em up. checked the compression/rebound dampers and they looked pristine. Put it all back together and rubbed a little stansion oil on to the stanchions. It feels pretty smooth, getting less drag on the rebound. I put 10 wt into both legs and the only thing that didnt work out was getting replacement bumpers for the stanchions between the fork crowns. Those rubber axe head looking bumpers to protect the stanchions from the frame. Should I bother to get them? It contacts the frame on the non drive side.
