ok I have boxxer with a drop crown and the top crown is hitting the top tube of my bike. I am currently running some old grips to prevent damage but i dont like that because
a: if i whack it hard enough im sure it will still damage the frame
b: it looks crap

here is a photo of said crown:

will the flatter crown fix this problem?

and how much will it reduce the length of my stanchion below the lower crown? picture here:

do i have enough room to run the other crown?
According to Rock Shox's website, the max stackheight for a flat crown is 160mm. I measured b/c I have a similar problem w/ my gf's SGS Pro. You can also put spacers under the top crown to help it clear the tt. Don't know if you have enough steerer though.

From the looks of your picture, I see you have a lot of spacers under your stem. Take most if not all of those spacers and put them under the crown, and it looks like you'll have enough to fix your problem. ;)

You can place a spacer under the crown, or get a flatter crown n drop the lower crown to raise the stanchions up. Make sure that the lower crown has 181 mm clearence of stanchions.
