Ok the other day I raced my HT and it was a tough and rocky course.
I crossed the finish line packed up and went home. When I got home my rear tire was totally flat. I took the tube out and replaced it. There was what appeared to be a large pinch flat hole in the side of the tube. I didn't look at the tire at this time.
I washed my bike, filled the new tube with air and left the bike to dry in the sun. I forgot about it for an hour or two when all of a sudden I hear a HUGE explosion from the back of my house. I run out to look at my bike is lying on it's side and the rear tire is FLAT!. As I inspect I see there is a large hole in the side of the tire. Apparently the sun heated the tube up and it exploded.
My question is, do you think the hole was in the tire from the race and since I didn't look I missed it and because of it the tube inside pushed thru it and blew up because of un-equal pressure, OR did the overheated tube blow thru the tire and cause the gash??
