I was cleaning my bike and noticed my brake lever push rod was completely out of the master cylinder cup. I made an attempt to push it back in and destroyed the retaining washer and ring that attaches to the brake lever push rod. Does anyone know of a fix and/or do they sell replacement parts.

this happened to me at sugar this year. you gotta order the master cylinder rebuild kit for the hfx-9's. it blows to put in for just that stupid washer, but u get a ton of new parts for like 13 bucks, so definitely go ahead and put them all in. its pretty simple what you have to do, but you have to have those stupid needle point pliers to get the washer out, its a really tight space to work in as well, took me and one of my other mechanics a couple of tries to get it, and i had to hold my tongue just right. once that c clip and washer are out just throw in all ur new parts. be wary when u pull the c clip out, the fluid is gonna run just a lil. throw in all ur new ****, clip that c clip back in, or the new one, and bleed ur brakes. pain in the ass for one little washer...

haha, hope parts are harder to get a hold of than hayes... i wrecked my brakes so many times that i just bought hayes mags cuz my nines were running ****ty. for one reason or another every once in a while my lever was binding and wouldnt give me any stopping power, caused more wrecks, and more levers in the dirt...
i bought the mags like 3 weeks after i replaced the guts in my nines, that was kinda lame, lol. good luck with whatever. if you havent betn ur caliper body at all and ur levers and all are fine id replace the guts, and buy new brakes when u wreck the **** out of them.

Just thought I would ask...forgot your boss doesn't run a real bike shop and is just a wannabe rider.

Did you know Kona riders are the most aggressive riders.

Using a $2.50 pair of needle nose pliers, file, and 15 min. of my time I made a tool for the Hayes retaining C-clip...tried them out and they work well.
