Its time to pic up some new brake pads for my xt755, but there are so damn many. What brand and compound does everyone recomend. I want the grabbiest and most power and I also want them to be quiet. Right now I have been usung the stock shimano ones. Heres the options I have found so far,

EBC brake pads, red, green, or gold

I have used Galfers and Goodridge sintered on my M755s as well as a resin pad (not sure of brand.) The Goodridges feel pretty grabby at low speed but once you're up to speed feel great, with tonnes of power (although they're a bit noisy at times.) The Galfers seem to modulate a bit better but still have loads of power and are quieter than the Goodridges.

Pretty happy with both but I am sticking with the Goodridges for now as I bought four pairs at once...

shimano metallic pads have more power and the resin pads provide more modulation.

combining resin and metallic pads in the same caliper leads to a pretty good braking profile (read: decent modulation and good power).
