Giant AC Team with vertical dropouts - so it's possible that the vibration caused this?Joe Pozer said:I didn't see what frame he was using
I'm leaving in an hour, already tore down my back wheel (again :mumble: :mumble: :mumble: ) since I found that crack. Will be building up another 823 to distroy next weekend. :mumble:Acadian said:aren't you suppossed to be working? done already? sheesh..
maybe its something with the AC??neversummersnow said:I did a similar thing to my Avid mech rotor on my AC back last year in a 4x race, come to think of it, I was turning when it mangled itself....
No way... that would have to be one hell of a vibration. The pattern is too uniform. Almost looks like something was rubbing on it. My guess is that his IS mointing bolts were a tad long. Even if he had enough clearance remember thing expand when they get hot. Operator error I'm pretty sure. Another one of those "I was just riding down the trail stories". Funny if you look a Hayes (yes I know this is not a Hayes) that is right about where the little mount washers would hit if they got kicked a little to the rotor side. That is why I use hardened AN aircraft washers. So they don't slid over and rub the rotor. Not that it happens very often, but is has happened.Acadian said:Giant AC Team with vertical dropouts - so it's possible that the vibration caused this?
Oh crap... I just went and looked at an AC. It's the pivot bolt above the dropout. It comes REAL close to the rotor. Right about where that rotor failed!!! Good call Luc.Acadian said:maybe its something with the AC??

Time to try a different brand... or start riding with me so you can be smoother. I'm free to ride with so this should be easy... right?Brian HCM#1 said:I'm leaving in an hour, already tore down my back wheel (again :mumble: :mumble: :mumble: ) since I found that crack. Weighing 98 lbs and being smooth should not be confused with one another. Have you not beat down your wtb wheels? If not, you're the only one I know of who hasn't. Besides, I'm convinced that if Brian took a look at most people's wheels he would deem them unfit. I just keep riding them. It's not like I'm going to notice much with a big 2.7 tire and 8 inches of suspension.dhtahoe said:Time to try a different brand... or start riding with me so you can be smoother. OGRipper said:Yeah, with discs I beat my rims to crap before replacing them, I've got about 8 flat spots in my current wheel and can't feel one when I'm on the bike. Got some pretty funky spoke tension issues but it rolls just fine.
I'm planing on running 35-38 psi this time.kidwoo said:Weighing 98 lbs and being smooth should not be confused with one another. Have you not beat down your wtb wheels? Hey brian. Put more air in your tires. Don't worry about numbers, just put more in than what you normally use. For a rim to bend, the tire has to be squished out of the way first. Just don't let that happen and your rims will be untouched.
And town: let me ride your bike pretty please.
Tat tat tat!!! That's numbers!!!Brian HCM#1 said:I'm planing on running 35-38 psi this time.
So 86 the Michy?kidwoo said:Tat tat tat!!! That's numbers!!!
Just get a sticky tire and make it feel like an xc tire.

With enough speed he should almost be able to clear that medianThe Kadvang said:I mean, look at the run-up for that curb huck. Perfection. And the curb skinny in the middle of the road, wow. Really gets my blood flowing. Don't forget the curb drop machine in the foreground.
