I have a Raceface Diabolus Crank set and one of the spyder arms broke off. thoughts on running the crankset with 3 bolts solid and the floater (it has the bolt through the bash guard, spyer piece, and chainring.)

Sounds to me like you're going to get a lot of flex at that point in the chainring since it's not bolted in place, which can destroy your chainring, your chain, and your rear cassette. It's all going to wear really funny since your chainring will wear differently due to the flexing, the chain will wear into those grooves differently, and the rear cassette will be worn by the chain.

That's all just a guess from thinking about how the drivetrain is going to be affected, but at the very least you're in danger of breaking the chainring. Plus, if your chainring decides to just go on you when you're laying down power (which is the most likely time for it to go), it could be a very painful situation.

I'm suprised you broke off a spider arm on a beefy crankset like that. Have you checked with RaceFace about a possible warranty situation?
