I was riding my trail bike this past weekend and noticed my fork feelin' a bit funky. Decided to ride it out and deal with it when I was back in the shop.

So today, I opened up my 36 and here's what I found...

Seems like my damper, for the lack of a better phrase, "snapped in half" (that's what I told the Fox tech over the phone). I'm not sure how I did this, and perhaps even more puzzling, I don't understand how the damper breaks like this?

Anybody ever see/experience something like this before?

DISCLAIMER: (so it doesn't turn into a flame-fest like the Boxxer thread)

I am not pointing the finger and blaming Fox for this.

Sh!t happens. I got an RA # no questions asked and the fork is already on its way back to Watsonville.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. It is because fox cut a thread into a very thin area. The oz importer couldn't get me the replacement part. I made a brass one up that is actually strong enough.

I just learned that 2010 Fox 36 R dampers are open bath:

Hopefully one of these can be retrofitted into my older chassis. I really dislike their troublesome bladder-based design.
