Thank fck it broke to be honest.

Shorts hooked up on it at the top of a roll-in. Balancing over front wheel about to be slowly launched over the bars (we all know that "oh fck" moment) when the paddle snapped off, probably saving a hospital visit.

So. X.0's are stupidly expensive. Can I buy a cheaper X.7 or even X.5 shifter and graft the paddle on to the X.0?

You can get just the paddle from SRAM. It's a replaceable part. Also, Cheaper ones are not compatible due to this. (XO one is a tiny paddle with a screw to hold it on, that's it. Easy to swap out.
