Good to see! I'm a bit dissappointed in Iron Horse for not re-signing him, but stoked for Bryn on the new ride!

Im psyched for Bryn just like I was psyched for jared Graves to get with Yeti. Racing costs $$$ guys. No one bike company has the resources to sign everyone!

Bryn will rip it up this year I'm sure

Awsome! Glad things got finalized!! I've been sitting on Bryn's info since before the new year, but had to keep my mouth shut until he actually signed a contract! I was about to explode!

Yeah, it's unfortunate that he wasn't able to stay on with the MadCatz Iron Horse crew, but that's racing for ya. people switch teams all the time! NEXT YEAR should be VERY INTERESTING since most racer's contracts are up!

Bryn's '05 Sponsors include:

GT / Hyundai
Sram / Rock Shox
Oakley
Gate Eight
& of course ME! Dylan Dean Designs

it looks like he'll also be wearing FLY Racing gear...but i'm not sure if that has been finalized. I'm sure there will be more sponsors to come!

Yeti is doing a pretty good job of it... Graves, Riffle, Houseman, Milan, and Klassen.
The 03 Iron Horse team shat all over that IMO... Rennie, Hill, Atkinson and Graves. Of that, only Hill is still there... bit of a shame cos all four of them are off their respective nuts.

That 03 Iron Horse team was in my opinion one of the nastiest ever assembled, I dont think a lot of people saw the true talent of Jared and Bryn at that time. Some did, but not everyone. They were a real good group of guys to boot. I never doubted their rockstardom for a second. Actually, I thought Jared was going to have an unbelievable year in 03, but getting hurt really put a damper on that, it was too bad.

Can you tell us a little bit more about that? So the I-drive is still rolling for how many seasons now?
Gboxx (or the GT-T1 as I named it) has been a rough working prototype for about 10 years now, 10 years ago they had UNLIMITED funds for the project and about 10 engineers working on it, The Olympic bikes back then took over as priority number 1-then the huge success of of i-drive and later the demise of the company left the gear box on the developement room floor.

When GT rose from the ashes they needed something to get them back in the limelight-so they pulled that old dog out of the storage bin, Busby revamped it a little bit and they threw the nexus hub in their. Now with very limited funds and only one guy developing the bike the process is just going to take a while-as I have said a million times before about it (do a search) that bike is far from being raceable, it has geo issues, suspension design issues and the nexus hub contraption is not working as it should.

You gotta remember, GT's focus now is not putting out the latest designs, it is selling UNITS, selling lots of UNITS worldwide-corporate could care less about gear box bikes or new DH designs, they do care about a FS bike priced at $599 that would sell 250,000 UNITS in the first quarter. It sucks that pacific has it structured this way-but that is just reality. The guys in the Cali R&D lab dont like it this way, but they still try hard and still love what they do.

Bryn, Lopes, Rey will all ride DH-i's, yes the same one Peaty, EC, Fabien, Gonzalez, Repo and more all rode to success-We all know there is not much wrong with a DHi so those guys will be fine on them-again.

I did first hand. I stood directly behind him at the top of the Mt. Snow course this year when it was raining and super muddy. And I watched him pin it, straight line style, slam into a huge mud puddle going 40, slide, keep control and never touch the brakes. He was running tires that looked to be as skinny as a 2.1 as well.
The mud flew through the air almost as fast as the "hope" that forever left me that I could ever ride a bike like that. :blah:

I remember speaking to someone the winter before that happened about an all aussie team that was full of pinners with unsinged contracts for the following year. It ended up including that exact same team that I had mentioned (Rennie, Jared, Sam, Bryn, & Kovarik - I found out later that Kovarik was allready in a contract.) I thought that was pretty wierd.

Jared had a great year the year before that with a few Podiums at Nationals, Sam had just won his first Jr World Title and showed more promise than many people could immagine. Bryn showed alot promise with a few sporatic good results during the NCS Series and Rennie and Kovarik were allready proven top contendors.

Gotta love it...

Stik, I was told this years DHi is slightly different, as in they've changed the swingarm ever so slightly to prevent breakages...any truth? I guess we'll know soon regardless....

Neversummer-to the best of my knowledge the swingarm has the added gusset at the brake mount area and there was talk of slightly modifying the shock mount area where some were breaking...but I never saw it. They dont want to spend too much money on revamping it as they are trying to put time and money into fixing the gear contraption and the all new downhill bike(which will replace the current).

Hope Bryn gets a contract! The guy in charge of sports marketing, his words are hollow, I suggest some ink for Bryn before he puts a jersey on.
