We need volunteers! Join BTCEB for a trail stewardship weekend in Joaquin Miller Park October 6-7. We'll be working on reroutes for Big Trees and Sequoia Bayview which should further enhance the best singletrack in the East Bay. Trail work is fun, rewarding, a great workout and it helps assure continuing trail access for our sport.

In anticipation of a great turnout Volunteers of Outdoor California is providing Crew Leader training this coming Sunday, September 29th. If you enjoy being a volunteer and are interested in leadership, join the Crew Leader Program. As a crew leader, you will guide small groups of volunteers on a section of the JMP project to produce high-quality reroutes for everyone to enjoy. You will receive special training, customized to your level of experience. Crew Leader training topics include leadership, safety, tools, and technical skills, such as trail construction and habitat restoration. Training is free and we think you'll have so much fun you'll want to do more. In the near future BTCEB hopes to build NEW SINGLETRACK! We need an experienced crew to do this type of work.

To signup for this Sundays Crew training contact Cathy Moyer, Executive Director, Volunteers for Outdoor California at cmoyer@v-o-cal.org. To sign up for The Joaquin Miller Park trail day October 6-7, visit http://v-o-cal.org/proj/current.html.

From the BTCEB Secretary:

Just spoke to Cathy and she's finally committed to a time for the leadership training... tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon, 1:30 at the JMP ranger station. She's intending to do the class section at the least, but is a bit unsure how to fit in the field section. It will likely depend on who shows and options will be discussed then.

Anyone interested in the V-O-Cal Trail Crew Leader training should RSVP with me ASAP! It's a great bit of training that can be useful in life in other ways.

Thanks,
Dan
