hi has anybody built there own bike rack for there car. i need some advice on building a rack for the bed of a pickup that i dont have to take the front tire off.pics if possible any advice is appriciated

I made a simple box out of pvc that had some cross bars slightly wider than my front tires. Put in front tire. Strap down over tires, strap rear end. done.

No but I was just curious because some dude came into our shop the other day and wanted to do the exact same thing. He didnt want to take the wheels off. But I explained to him that taking off the wheels is very simple and pointed him in the direction of the Thule 822 rack.

i have a manitou hex lock 20 millimeter style front fork it is not very easy to take the wheel off but i can i just want to make it as easy as possible.

Very true. Go for the custom made stuff then.

in a pick up? Just use ratchet straps on the handle bars... moto style.

thats how we do it with the big bikes.
