hey i'm new to the forum so first off hey. i'm going to build some dirt jumps at some empty lot its fairly wet out ( it rained this morning) and apparently good conditions to build, any tips on anything?
use all dirt, filler can cause problems downstream. grab a bucket and water as you go. pack as you go also. find some old carpet or blankets and put them over your jumps once they're built. this will help them dry properly and not crack.
#1 rule--Drainage.
#2 rule--Do NOT cut down trees.
#3 rule--If you have terrain to work with, plan your lines to cross the slope instead of straight down it (see #1).
2nd.
saw too many starters building a whole lot of nice dirts, just to find out they could only ride it 20 days in a year because the rest of the time there were swimming pools in front of every kicker and landing

An easy way to get dirt really close to the jumps, is to dig down for part of your landing and take off. You just need to make sure there is a drainage canal from inbetween the 2 jumps so it doesn't turn into a swimming pool. Here's some example pics of how I made some.
You can see the canal empties into the middle of the first jump.
And here's the newest line I'm building. Still haven't dug a drainage for this one yet.
Don't use filler! I use to, but realized the jumps die after one good rain. Make everything wide. In the long run, you'll be happy you did.
