According to him, Isreali's should stay settled in Palistinian land, while Palistinian refugees should not be allowed back home in Isreal.
But that's simply not correct. "Palestine" was never an official land. It's just the chunk of space that is now occupied by Israel and Jordan... go look at a map, Jordan's huge in comparison. Now, the other thing to understand is that before Israel and Jordan were recognized, ALL those people -- Israelis, Jordanians (?), and the now referred to as "Palestinians" -- were the "same" people.

EDIT: Yes, yes, zionist movement brought a lot of foreigners there, yada yada, give me your weak, your poor... come to America, get a free lap dance blah blah

But enough of 60+years ago, let's talk about today... the "Palestinians", who've never actually existed, are being recognized by the PotUS! Bush wants these people, who've never been declared an actual people -- cuz without an actual state, you're not citizens of a particular state -- are being legitimized by the PotUS and he's saying, let's make an official home for them! I think that's fvcking awesome!

Anyone who is upset with the US or Israel should be more upset by the Arab world for thier inaction to help these people. In fact, you should be really pissed at the Arab world since they're using the Palestinians as pawns.

Back to my original question...

If/when the Palestinian state is formed, will the fighting stop or is the hatred just too deep?

Ok, I'll bite... show me some evidence that it was "their" land, ever. Or perhaps you'd like the challenge of defining "who" a Palestinian person was before the PLO came into existence.

something tells me there was an effort made for lebanon to be the settling/migration place for those downtrodden in the refugee camps years ago, but was resisted by other arabs in the region.

true?

tell me again, who lived in the area before the balfour declaration? yes, the vast majority was arabs. qed.
I'm not gonna read yet another forum. If there's something substiantial there, quote it here.

Look, there never was nor is a Paletine. Wait, don't close the thread :) Jews were there for a long ass time, like 2000 yrs before Rome came along and kicked their butts. Rome, not liking jews or israel renamed the region Palestine, but ruled the region. They didn't make Palestine into a state, they just simply renamed the region. Time moved on and that region referred to as Palestine was ruled but Turks and Ottomans, but there was never a Palestinian state, nor Palestinian people.

Ok, you're sympathetic to these people, cool. So am I, which is why I'm happy their getting officially recognized and will get their own state... finally.

But why is no one screaming for a return of "Palestinians" to Jordan or Egypt? The land referred to as Palestine sits on parts of those two countries.

Ok, let's forget for a moment that jews were actually there first -- before even the Romans, Turks, et al. Let's focus on reality...

To the victor goes the spoils!

Why is this different for Israel than any other country who conquered other lands. Heck, where did our own great USA come from? Israel was attacked in 1967 by several Arab countries. Israel won... David truly kicked Goliath's @ss, so I say, David should get Goliath's wife and dog :D
