I think Afghanistan is better than Iraq.

It is hard for any occupying force to win an urban conflict. At least the open desert our technology can be useful.

Urban warfare is easy. Just ask the Germans about Stalingrad...

Its would be ine thing if we were actually fighting a theater war against a standing army now. Insurgencies are different, and throwing massive #s of troops and $$ at it is the wrong answer. This has been a Special Operations war for about the last three years.

My guess is that at least 60% of the whopping 8000 are medical discharges.
I've got too many beers in me to be bothered with actual research tonight. The gist of the article I read was a marine division was getting sent home as planned (from iraq) and their replacements were going to afghanistan (instead of to iraq).
