The article appeared in our local paper. Very detailed, and I find it interesting how the Bush party has really turned the OIRA into a functional part of the government.
What do you guys think of having a team of individuals trying to quantify in monetary terms the "costs" of the environment in order to either pass laws to protect it, or undo laws that currently protect it (such as the Roadless thingy from the last days of the Clinton administration)?
At this point it appears that they don't know how to "quantify" the value of protecting endangered species, but they sure as heck know how to "quantify" the costs of not developing a region - seems ot me it spells bad news for the things we're trying to protect out here.
Not a big surprise that the WA reps voted against this guy and remain disapproving of his methods and results.
