I was just watching Tony Blair on the Beeb, defending his right to lock up people for scaring us, i.e this new legislation that he wants to enact that the Lords are hassling him about. The veracity of this legislation aside I must admit that I was impressed by Blair's handling of the whole thing. The guy just owns Bush as far as being able to enunciate the aims and means of execrable policy. The guy can make pig poop smell like rose petals. I'd go so far as to say that without Blairs support Bush would have been a one termer. Blair was really the engine that kept Bush going, Bush knows it I think.

I think also that the colonies, and I include the US here, actually want guidance from the mother country, nevermind that we've actually surpassed mum in most categories but there's still that suck on the teat....less so in the US, still strong in Canada and Australia/NZ.

if anyone ever has doubt as to blair's deft ability to articulate in debate, set your dial to "questions for the prime minister".

damn that kid's good. (yes, blair will forever be in bush's debt)

You're talking about question time in parliament. Makes or breaks UK and Australian and (I'm guessing Canadian and NZ) prime ministers. The American system of government has much to commend it actually. You guys put the power in the executive and leave it to the legislature to put limits on your power. Not a bad thing at all.

Yup - Bliar is a smooth, slippery SOB. Glad to see that the kids still look to us as a moral compass.
You wanker. :D
Do you live in London Fluff? Sorry if my powers of observation are remiss and you've answered this question before. :D

B-liar was a high-flying lawyer before he was a politician, so he can spin with the best of them for sure. He's a bit too religious for my tastes, and he is complicit in Bush's dumbass war of hatred creation. I hope he looses in the next election, but I really don't want the Conservatives to win. Maybe there'll be a hung Parliment with Labour and the Libs, but I really doubt it.

Anyway, as for the US political system, I think you guys would really benefit from a 'Primeminister's Questions' type of deal.
